I still believe they have potential for solid mind games. Even though it’s early Snake Eyes was getting bopped up multiple times by non rekka RP into hooligan grab. The back body elbow in the rekka has potential for mind game also if you can delay it long enough. Get them to try and punish 2nd part of rekka then check them in the back as they whiff. If they’re sleeping it’ll cross them up too.

I agree with this. At first it may seem like there’s not enough time to use the rekkas or they’re not good enough to warrant the lack of time. Especially if you were an Alpha 3 player who was used to them being part of your regular offense. It’s like you said though, when people consider all of the option trees she has with being able to activate off heavy normals that crush counter like s.HK, it should seem more justified. I don’t think Capcom would make a such a drastic change to the meter burn of her rekkas unless they knew the shit was legit. I’m convinced they are better than we all know at this point.

Plus even if you don’t consider the rekkas this bitch has some really good buttons. Like Delayed Wakeup said, PR Rog and Kazunoko were going in with just buttons, command dash and palms.

R.Mika and Karin are both hyped up to be pretty good characters so I’ll be using them both during the beta. See which one is cheaper.

If the f+MK overhead does low crush it probably only has early frames for it. Vega pressed that c.LP before her foot even started coming down.

This rekka thing is probably one of, if not the most radical change they’re done to any character so far. The only character that tops this as far as wild changes is Claw becoming a motion character. This is definitely like number 2 after that. It’s really intriguing to me what their thought process could be behind it and where they want the character to go. I think it’s just up to people figuring out ways to build meter up for V Trigger quicker so it’ll seem less of an issue.

Hmmm we’ll see. People were getting hit all over the place with even lazy use of the rekka sooo it’ll be interesting to see where it goes.

I’m fine with them changing the character. They just have to do a bit of work to justify the changes. For the most part though I still like Karin’s design in this game, they just have to work on her Rekkas.

nah bro karin is obviously mad weak and super duper low tiers. She doesn’t have amazing normals on every button. She doesn’t have great walk speed. She doesn’t have great forward and back dashes. She doesn’t have a way to nulify a projectile or multiple ways around them. She doesn’t have good damage, juggles and corner carry. BUT she does have an extremely mediocre rekka gimmick that takes a whole 2 bars to activate! it should be 1 bar v trigger that does the rekka install forever like necalli! and and and… WE WANT A COMMAND GRAB AND COUNTER BACK!, and and… BUFF THE V TRIGGERS TOO, ALL ENDERS SAFE ON BLOCK AND ALL TRUE BLOCK STRINGS EXCEPT IF THEY MASH DP IT AUTO GOES INTO BACK DASH FEINT TO BAIT THAT SHIT DP MASHES IS FOR SCRUBS I HAVE 200PP ONLINE AND 10K SRK POSTS LISTEN TO ME I KNOW FIGHTING GAMES BALANCE BEFORE PLAYING A GAME THAT IS ALSO IN A SUBJECT TO CHANGE BETA PHASE.

Well Delayed had his time here. Didn’t really say much we didn’t already know. Always felt she had good buttons and whatever happens with the rekkas is whatever. If Capcom docked the time down for the rekkas they probably know something.

It’s very much something that cMK suffers from, it’s a fantastic normal in every way, so they lowered it significantly that way. When I got to play her I quickly noticed that if I wanted strings into specials to be tight cMP was the way to go, even sMP is probably more reliable in that way. Pressuring people with cMP into LK ressenha worked way better for me than trying to cMK lk ressenha. Sadly never got to try sHP or cHP, I’m so used to those moves not cancelling I never really thought to use them that way in SFV. I have no doubt that cMP into Rekka would be true.

As for the convo about rekka viability, remember that it is a very powerful tool to have one of these, Feis dominated os much of sf4 and he didn’t get 2 hits automatically that he could make safe nor easily hitconfirm into a super or cancel into off his cMK. Trust me, once used to this tool it will have signifcant potency. I am just very happy our girl is as good as she is before she even goes into trigger.

Now lets face it, Karin’s laugh is OP, You get it when you pick her, AND when you land her super. That’s double the laughs so we gotta tone that down.

I was going to suggest picking English Karin to keep your laugh under wraps but on second thought I think it’s pretty similar honestly. English voices in SF could be a lot worse than hers, so I’ll count myself lucky there.

If it’s true that low forward rekka is actually not a true blockstring I think the only way to explain it is for that normal to cancel late in its animation. Rekka isn’t that slow.

And if that’s the case it’s a good thing for hitconfirm purposes. But I also wonder whether it’s just a result of variable cancel timing, and whether you could make it a true blockstring with an immediate cancel. Remember that these things are not binary.

We are still in the phase where people are just testing out the “go all the way through and do mixup for tiny damage” portion of rekkas. I think that’s just there for when you’ve been pressuring for a while and you want to cash out on some white chip, or catch someone sleeping because they’re looking for your other options.

Especially if both Step 1 and Step 2 d+P are safe, which seems to be the case, people haven’t even started touching the rekka stagger game yet, and Fei gets by with nothing more than that despite much less safety. Once you have that in your opponent’s head along with “stop at step 1 and keep pressuring,” the rest of the options are opened up.

Edit: Don’t forget resets, either. We saw a tiny bit of it in the tournament.

Rekkas are indeed pretty horrid, if they tweak them and make them true block strings and maybe adjust their +/- they will be worthwhile. Currently they just aren’t that good and shouldn’t be tied down to Vtrigger, but the game isn’t finished so we’ll see whats up.
