Karin Combo/Tech Thread

She’s only positive after elbow, but you can interrupt with jab before it comes out because there’s a gap between the rekkas and elbow. You probably got stuffed because you hit a button after the elbow connected leaving her at +1.

I’ve been whiff punishing with cr mk > h mujin and following up with meaty Orochi. Anyone know the frame data on meaty Orochi? From the frame data I calculated +2 perfectly timed but I don’t trust it because it feels like it’s much better than that.

@QuidProQuo Just in case you didn’t know, if you whiff punish with cr.mk you can just get JFT->Orochi and then HK command dash to get meaties. Much better damage/setup

But to answer your question meaty orochi is +2 on block like you thought. +2 at that range is a pretty strong position to be in though

You are right about jft combos being better. I’m using it specifically for the meaty shoulder as virtually everyone I fight hits jab after blocked shoulder and it sets up CH cr mp confirms perfectly. Against charge characters that start fights with walking back I can snipe their feet with dash up cr mk > h mujin into meaty shoulder, if the CH trap works I can reset into stun for an essentially free round. Oddly specific I know, but hilarious when it works.

I’m a little confused. Is cr.mk xx tenko confirmable? I have seen commentators say it isn’t but I think I saw K-Brad do it. I’m thinking that it works by looking at to see if the opponent is crouching or standing, like Cammy’s confirm. I tried just hit confirming it in training room with no luck. if it is standing vs crouching… how do you even practice that?

There’s been a lot of inconclusive discussion on this. See Kattchips comment here and some of the discussion.

It’s pseudo-confirmable  I’ve seen K-Brad and JWong do it, but I’ve also seen them screw it up (so they don’t have it 100%). Anyway, doing it off counter-hit would be easier.

From experience, it’s very doable on reaction but you’ll need to spend 10-20 minutes every day practicing this on a random block dummy to condition yourself. It takes about 2 weeks to become proficient with it.

Look at the opponent’s health bar to confirm cr.MK on hit - your eyes react faster to the color red. Eventually, it will get easier and you won’t have to look at the health bar anymore.

If you get CH s MP, c MK, QCF+K,P, another QCF+K,P is out of range. Her v skill hits though. I just think it’s neat how c MK combos off of a counter-hit s MP. c MP is easier to time as a meaty than s LK and c MP, s MP is a normal hit combo, unlike s LK, c MP. I still use s LK, c MP, s MP though, of course.
