Well, can you kara demon from akuma stand pose? Your vid shows a kara demon right after the teleport. It could be a KD or TKD. If you always kara demon after the teleport exclusively, it’s a KD for sure.
As i said above, I asked cause of the ‘not sure if its always a true kara demon but anyways most of the time it works perfectly’ part, which doesn’t make sense to me.
yes i can from akuma stand pose. heres the vid.

ESN, that kara demon has never worked for me like this. This is what I do:
LP, LP, hold F+MP,DF, LK, HP. After the F+MP, you need another toward button, either F or DF(somewhat easier, cause you don’t let pad go to neutral at all, just hold F+MP(release MP)->DF, LK, HP. Same goes for TKD, but the LP thing is tricky.
Yeap, that’s TKD.
nice thnks. anybody else using ps3 controller and is able to tkd?? took me some time to get it right…
Even the normal kara demon is harder to master on a pad compared to an arcade stick or a keyboard. God, did you really train the demon with a ps3 pad?
Pretty sure the df is not mandatory for the regular KD, the F in f.mp also registers as the forward needed for the demon motion. Though i do it a little differently:
LP, LP, F (hold), MP, LK, HP
For TKD, indeed, you must obviously have another forward direction pushed (neutral to forward, forward to df/uf).
Weird thing: i use to go back to neutral then forward again when i’m on the left side, but prefer to hold forward and then DF when i’m on the right side.
carlito >> props for doing it on pad!
i know. after a while of playing with a ps3 controller everyone was tellin me to switch to a stick. its funny because i used to try TKD so hard but it sounded really impossible to input all those buttons in less than a second so i did my version “fake kara demon” which is
f+mp then try lp, lp, df, lk, hp as fast as you can and what will happen is that the first hit of the f+mp will hit your opponent and HOPEFULLY he will parry it. then it goes directly to a raging demon and its 100% impossible (if the opponent parrys the first hit of the f+mp) to escape.
i tried the stick for a couple of days and i wasnt able to do everything i usually do with a ps3 controller and its very frustratin… so i switched back and i found a way to do TKD with the ps3 controller. i can do mostly any combo of akuma with the controller an he is my main. the only thing that is hard to do for me is the kara throw lol and its cuz i use the default controls…
Normal KD comes out 100% when you hold F+MP, DF motion included, though.
Yeah, if the opponenet parries that F+MP, the demon connects 100%. Pretty nasty!
Anyway, congratulations! You have mastered one of the hardest setups in the game! You did it on a pad, too. Legit!
thnks, do you play on psn?
Well, i guess, but you can replace the DF by up and it will still work.
Not being able to kara throw closes a lot of doors in your game.
You can’t expect being comfortable with stick in a couple of days. It’s a matter of months, depending on how much you practice.
IIRC, this is only true for ~ half the cast (twins, but not the shotos), never understood why.
I can’t remember the exact list though.
F+MP -> DF or UF, not just up.
Same here. It’s character specific, I guess.
No, up will also work.
What i meant is that the df or the up or whatever dir you want to add to the regular motion is superfluous for a regular KD, f from the f.mp already did the job.
You just need to be sure your added dir is not inputted at the same frame than LK.
For example, LP, LP, F.MP.U.D.B.LK.HP will also work.
I’ll just report what happens while I mess around with these inputs: LP,LP, F(HOLD),MP,LK, HP
When I try the normal kara demon without any DF/UF motion, it does not always register as a Kara Demon.
1.If my inputs are too fast , F+MP will not come out. However, I get the standard raging demon, not the kara demon.
2.If my inputs are slow, F+MP comes out and akuma stays there. No raging demon or kara demon.
I have to press the buttons faster and keep a rythme, cause the F+MP animation is very slow and does not detect the “F” direction as single input.
Therefore, I can’t get the kara demon consistently enough.
To end my frustration, I have included the DF as described previously: LP, LP, F(HOLD)+MP,(release MP),DF, LK, HP.
I do not have to worry about my timing or speed as much. As long as I press the buttons accurately and include a DF/UF direction, the Kara Demon comes out. Always.
I’ve never bothered myself to master Akuma, but this is how it works for me.
It’s a timing issue, the added direction is only here to help you with the flow.
In fact, it’s your method to hide LPs which seems faulty if you end up with a standard demon sometimes.
But hey, do whatever works for you!
I did not hide LPs anywhere. I’ve just tried the Kara Demon in training mode.
**KD: **LP, LP, (hold)F + MP,(release MP), DF, LK, HP
That** F+MP cancel to Demon**, is the Kara Demon itself.
I would have used a teleport or a dash or a dive kick or something to hide the two LPs in their frames and Kara Demon in a match obviously.
TKD: (Hold)F + MP,(Press LP, LP very fast during the animation, release MP), DF, LK, HP
If I hide the LPs in that F+MP animation specificly and go Demon, that’s a True Kara Demon.
That is to say, I pull off the Kara Demon while Akuma is standing or walking.
Yea, including a DF motion helps me a lot.
Nice TKD, however I can’t help but facepalm at how bad you and your opponent are.
Still impressive doing a TKD on pad though
