Kaimana RGB LED Board thread, RGB animations and more! SRK Tech Talk 2013 Product of the Year!

okay, so finally going to order today, i have a razer atrox and am getting the 8piece kaimana kit with a breakout as well

Now to light my battop up im ordering these

http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/371-joystick-leds

that should be it right?

also should i get the crystal buttons or the White clear buttons? i know its a personal preference, but just seeing what people think

Anyone?

It seems like the kaimana community is dead or silent for some reason.

Ive been some questions answered on support.paradisearcadeshop.com but it looks like the wiki that should exist at support.paradisearcade.net is gone. I have the same set you bought, 8 led with mini kaimana and breakout, and im in the process of getting it wired up over the next few days. I wish I could help you out bud, but I also wish that this thread was still alive, I could use some help as well.

Any hurdles that I clear during the process Ill try and help you out with Rylinn.

Did you end up working this out?

I’m having the same issue (with the UFB and KK combo) and am wondering if there’s anything else I can do to try to solve it while I wait on a reply. I’ve exhausted all the ideas I could think of/find on google (and have tried all the obvious options like different PCs, USB cables and so on).

I’ve also noticed that it doesn’t actually detect any hardware change at all when plugged into a PC (without the UFB/any LEDs attached), and can’t be seen through the Arduino IDE as a result. Sort of assuming this is the issue, but want to make sure it’s not just me being a moron - certainly wouldn’t be the first time…

If you read up in the thread @JRDIBBS posted some Tourney code that does this on GitHub.

I wish I could help here, but I haven’t seen the new Js. @armi0024 - can you provide the pinout for the J’s on your site?

The board needs to be sent back for reprogramming. If neither the PS360+ or Kaimana LED lights up wth the K1+HOME or the onboard switch, it was either 1. Not factory programmed or 2. defective. Most likely it needs a new factory program put on it. Contact the shop you purchased it from to square it away. Without a program on the chips they USB switching does not work and neither USB signal is passed through.

The picture on the site (linked below) makes it pretty clear how to hook everything up.

Hey Guys,

I put together a video on how to install the kaimana mini kit! Enjoy!

Excellent video and great use of the BrightStick.Freecade.Org website @fundando ! The HitBox variant of the site is coming along nicely too

Thanks for the reply Jasen! I thought this was probably going to be the case, but it’s great to have it confirmed so I know to give up until I can get the replacement/return lined up. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve plugged this in hoping for a different outcome (something something, definition of insanity)!

Guys we are working on a few things… but for now
http://support.paradisearcadeshop.com/support/solutions/articles/14000021693-kaimana-led-install

Working on adding pin out guides etc for the new stuff

I ended up soldering the kaimana mini in place. When I was talking about how to wire it up I didn’t mean to the LED’s. It turns out the breakout board was having some issues and through the VCC screw terminal it seemed like it was getting dirty power and all LEDS would be solid red. After soldering a header on the ps360+ and installing the kaimana that way though, it is working normally and I started customizing the code.

I do have one question on the arduino sketch however. Since the kaimana j2’s have 2 leds per pad, how do I map both LED’s to each button in the Kaimana_custom.h file.

example:

#define  LED_K4      0

I need to be similar to

#define  LED_K4      0,1

etc.

Use brightstick.freecade.org to generate code. @fundando did a nice tutorial on this in the video above.

I just started watching the video, it looks like he covers the code changes for the double LED’s on the j2’s. Thanks for replies.

Thank you Jasen for the great tool!

I have recently purchased a Kaimana Khameleon and a Brooks Board. I have solder them together with the 20 pin and 4 pin headers and everything was working fine. Then I went to use the Khameleon webkit and two of my LED’s went out on the end of the string. The LED’s work because I swapped them out for others on the chain and they work. Can someone please help me to relight the last two LED lights and set up the LED lights without malfunction. Thanks.

The Kaimana Khameleon Webkit is designed to work with the Panzer Fight Stick 2.0 wiring. You will need to go in and adjust the indexes of your LEDs according to how you wired them. @fundando covered this in a video a few posts back.

I followed the guide but my last two lights are still not enabled. I don’t understand code but I am simply trying to relight my last two LED’s and i cannot find the code to allow me to do that. I can learn the rest of the code but i don’t know how i managed to screw this up.

We need pictures, code, etc to help.

Each setup is unique, with out all of the details we’ll end up wasting a lot of time.

Do they light on plug in?

At first they all lit up, after flashing the board the last two went out!
