Kaimana RGB LED Board thread, RGB animations and more! SRK Tech Talk 2013 Product of the Year!

I need help coding the following:

A fade for the buttons.

Making the color rotation static.

Adding more colors to the rotation.

Adding a special case for throws-Focus attack-taunt-tags in Marvel

Making the button glow/pulse when it’s held down.

Asking someone to code all of this is a bit much.

I want to learn how to code all of this myself. Where do I start?

Is there a way to see/test the code besides loading it into the Kaimana and seeing it in action (like a test program)?

I think the Sparky Jr. has something like this.

Hold that thought @‌KnyghtFall

There are a number of places to learn aurdino. I haven’t done it yet but I really need to find time for it. I want to add a bunch of animations to my stick.

Oh rly? Whatcha up to gaiz? Huh? :slight_smile:

Will Paradise OBSFS Silent 30mm LED Pushbutton Pads work with Kaimana Js? Has anyone tried this?

It looks like the holes are large enough to let the light through, but I want to be sure before I buy them.

I could also get Little Kahunas, but they don’t seem like they dampen the sound all that much.

I removed them for my LED mod…but I miss them. The shorter travel with them installed made plink dashing much much easier.

The LED pads will work but IMO the Kahunas are better.

Hey I plan on ordering a set for 6 buttons and a LED joystick to the Kaimana PCB, does this look right?
x1 Kaimana PCB with 6 button set, .100 pin terminal
x1 Kaimana adapter
x1 Short JLF LED set
x1 Kaimana 12" harness
x6 Seimitsu PS-14 K translucent

What’s you planned button layout @sasquach‌ ?

Take a look at the “6 button kit” PAS has on their web site for an idea on what cables you might need. My setup has a mix of the 3", 6" and the 12" cables. I am actually a little surprised PAS does not have a ready to order 6 button kit with the PS-14-KN button plungers.

@sasquach‌

Consider ordering a slip ring or the the kit with the led stick. I’ve heard really good things about this option.

Just gonna have only 6 buttons light up as I only have 6 buttons on my stick, so yea I’m getting that set. I’m wondering more if this LED joystick set, along with one harness and the adapter will be enough to light up a joystick as well. I just want to make sure that this is everything I need.

@sasquach‌

Short answer: No

You need one harness/cable between each device as they have an in->out chain relationship. So you need one harness/cable between the Kaimana and the first button. Then another cable between the first button and the second. Repeat this until you reach the last button. For your setup you will need one additional cable between the last button and the adapter which drives the LED joystick.

The rule of thumb is you need one cable for each button or adapter you add to the Kaimana LED chain.

Thanks, I’ll consider getting those slip rings, they seem really useful.

The Paradise Kaimana LED Driver PCB 6 Button Kit comes with 5 3" wire sets and 1 12" wire set for the cables for the 6 buttons. So that means I only need one more harness for my joystick right? So that’s why I was planning to order only 12" one extra harness for the LED joystick and adapter.

Confirmed: A little Dremel action on the J LED allows them to fit over large switch buttons like Seimitsu screw-ins. Have fun guys!

Hello, I don’t know if this is the right place to ask but I figure I might as well try.

I recently acquired a stick with the Kaimana LED board and PS360+ already wired together. The LEDs look great and I’m loving the animations already implemented. I am having one issue with the standby mode (not pressing the buttons for several seconds and then all the buttons gradually change colors at the same time, kinda like a screensaver mode). The stick works fine with both my 360 and PS3 when I leave the buttons alone, but I suspect that the PS360+ board might have a bug with the Kaimara while plugged into to a PC. My PC picks up the PS360 drivers, but as soon as the stick is left alone and the standby mode turns on, all my inputs drop and I have to reconnect my stick. Obviously this kinda sucks because I pretty much have to press a button every other second or so.

Is there’s a way to turn off the LEDs for a session while plugging in the stick? Has anyone had this issue with the Kaimana/PS360+ combo plugged into a PC with the drivers being funky? Please share any information if you had to deal with this in the past.

Hey all… I have the KI edition TE2 and i recently purchased the LVT3 led board that uses kaimana as its base sketch. I am having trouble getting the board to respond to the sketch when i upload it. If there is anyone that might be able to help me that would be much appreciated.

Maybe a power issue, some computers do not have enough power on the peripheral usb ports to drive full animations, something that has not been a problem with the consoles.

PM me about the LVT3 issue, I’ll try to help out.

I hope the LVT3 issue with the Crossbone gets figured soon! So hype to install!

@sasquach‌

I installed the OBSC-30mm WW buttons so your mileage may vary.

My configuration is:

Kaimana->Adapter (joystick ball top)->K1->K2->K3->K4->P4->P3->P2->P1->Home->Select->Start

To connect everything I used the following cables:

2x 12" cable
2x 6" cable
8x 3" cable (might be a 4", can’t recall but it was the shortest one available at the time)

Heads up to the thread. Just spoke with pas today and found out that the lvt3 code is slightly different than the basic kaimana. If you are having issues with kaimana sketch on the lvt3 contact pas so you can get the correct sketch. They have been a great help.
