i watched it last night with some friends i tought it was tight:tup: since am a fen of the flash they did him very good superman didnt realy do much in the film though but every body eles seemed to di there role in the film nicely. oh yeah and the movie had a darker feel to it then past dc animations did.
I do enjoy the fact that John Henry Irons made it into the movie and many topics from that era were touched upon. Mind you, its rated PG 13 and the 60s wasn’t exactly a great decade in America.
You know, if they were greedy enough, this could have been an excellent mini series. I thought the intro was excellent as well. Spotlighted each cover from the six issue series.
The ending is still just as powerful as the comic book.
Good shit on the pricing error, Sano. You basically paid the same price as the DVD slip cover edition.
Saw it yesterday. Good little movie. Pretty violent too! I love the way they represent the Flash!
I got it for 15 dollars, of course I got the regular ray bare bones edition.
I liked the movie, the voices were very good. Especially Batman, Flash, GL, and Wonder Woman.
It was a little short though, but I enjoyed it non the less. Now I want to get the comics and read them.
Watching it right now. I’m not sure about the story yet, but the PQ is mid tier. I’m seeing some color banding in the gradients, as well as a few other things.
Downloaded this quite some time ago… very good movie!!
It really should’ve been longer…Flash/GL FTW.
Watched it. Still gathering my thoughts.
- Great visuals
- Good orchestral music, has a very epic feel
- Good pacing until the end…
- Too short, last third of the movie felt rushed
That last point really sticks to me. A big complaint of Superman Doomsday was that it was too short. And New Frontier had a similar running time.
Wow this was complete shit. Worse than those Ultimate Avengers straight-to-video releases.
Could have been better as a 2-Parter, but as it stands they had to cram way too much stuff in there, and from what I hear they left out alot too.
The tv show is much better.
Yeah, I doubt that. It’s still much better than the Ultimate Avengers stuff. It executes much better than the Ultimate Avengers. It’s just that…
…it leaves out a lot of the good stuff that involved the characterization on plenty of the characters. It has the integral parts that matter most, but not the stuff that happens on the side like certain dialog that pertains to the story. If anything, the Flash had the most play in that movie and had his scenes almost untouched from the comic.
I wouldn’t compare the two.
To be fair I think you’re right, the Flash was a very likeable character. He needs his own series.
I kinda liked it. Better than what I expected. Alas, Batman was again robbed of screentime, and put on the fucking sideline most of the time.
He had the best scene of the movie though when he threatened MM with a penny and then left.
As a stupid Flash Mark it was great to see Flash being awesome throughout the entire movie.
I never read the comic but I just watch this yesterday and I love it. Way better than Doomsday and kills all the recent Marvel animation videos IMHO.
Great animation, voices were good and even the DVD extras where good. All-in-all a must by if you’re a DC fan (and I’m a big Marvel fan).
On a side note: I can’t wait for the Batman animation going this summer. It looks really good.
That was like, the best scene in the entire comic book. No lie. I loved the series to death(I read it once a year[must get huge omnibus]), but just that one line sent chills down my spine.
As Stupid Flash Mark #2, I have to co-sign this.
I’ve heard a lot of complaints that Batman and Superman had almost no screen time, but really… what do you expect? Batman and Superman have had their own shows. Hal and Barry are new to the DCAU. I can’t for the life of me understand why people would object to having the attention distributed to characters who haven’t had this level of recent exposure yet.
I saw a review on Amazon in which the guy basically said that nobody has heard of GL or the Flash, so the filmmakers should have focused on Bats and Supes in order to give the people what they want. Just thinking about it makes my brain hurt.
People also fail to realize that this IS practically the origin of the DC Universe. Sure, the JSA was there already and sure Superman and Batman were there already, but that’s like, a handful of heroes compared to the huge amount that would come later during the Silver Age. It was the beginning of a new era and the New Frontier is now that origin for that new era.

the best flash parts from new frontier weren’t even in the movie though man, that is what pissed me off. him being an asshole (trying not to ‘spoil’ anything) and him being his now you see me now your ears are bleeding self.
