As far as I know it’s not based on MUGEN, but who cares anyway, it’s the final product that counts. If it’s good enough to be the most popular 2D fighter in jpn arcades right now, then it’s good any way you split it.
The game is cool…it’s most similar to GGXX series. In some way it has more freedom, in others it doesn’t. For example you can chain light-medium-hard, but you can also do hard-medium-light (is this still in AC?). You can combo into airthrows. There is also a lot of meter related shit going on. For example there is a mode where you can gain back red bar really fast (as long as you’re not in block/hitstun) if you charge your meter all the way up. There’s also a parry-like system, but I don’t know much about it. You have to hit a button to do it (D button), and it can be used with certain attacks (think auto-block moves in KOF).
If Act Cadenza got a console post, I would seriously consider playing it (competitively). Game is real dope.
Whiff cancelling got a “proper” name in AC, “reverse beat”.
Blood Heat. A+B+C when in Max mode in AC, 222D when in Heat in MBR.
D is a “parry button”, parrying in MBR/AC is called shielding. It’s much faster in MBAC, but the entire shield counter system (do qcf+D after a shield for a free auto-retaliation) was removed.
I’m still not sure why it requires a console post to be played seriously? The differences between MBAC and MBR are similar to XX and #r, and people played those seriously. Is it some kind of prerequisite that a fighter has to be in the arcades first before the mainline crowd will even consider it as a “real” game?

The only reason I carry it is that Melty Blood is a very cool game and I want to try to make it available to people. I run my whole operation at very low cost. I am not turning much of a profit on it. Just enough money to keep it afloat and that is it. I am sorry if you think the price is expensive but that is Melty Blood and Melty Blood React together in one package so it is a pretty decent deal IMHO.
Shipping is $5.00. The PC one is not on-line. However I did hear about a Fan project (Fierce gear I think it was called) that would enable on-line play.
