Just getting into comics

You have to read his stuff so you don’t focus on the pictures too much. :looney:

Didn’t you get the memo? Week 51 shipped a day late in Siberia. There was a link on Newsarama, look it up. No one guessed the correct date, so I guess we all lost. Or we all won. Either way, it turns out I “misplaced” my X-Force #1. But I know you got my back; you’re still buying Liefeld/Loeb’s Onslaught miniseries, right? ZING

I’ve got a pile of X-Factor issues somewhere around here, I’ll send you one, and you have to take a photograph of yourself reading it in a public (and populated) area!

Yeah but I never buy the Liefeld covers, always the alternates so me putting an Onslaught Reborn comic on my fridge does nothing.

If you like marvel read Ultimate marvel series, supreme power and squadron supreme. Also Punisher MAX is really good if you like the bad guys actually getting what they deserve. DC has a new line of comics called the all star series. IT is basiclly the Ultimate series of DC. Not to many comics out to red yet, just look for all star superman and all star batman and the boy wonder. Oh and I dont know if it is just me, but I really like the new GI JOE being relesed by DDP. Not that many comics to catch up either so happy hunting.

Advance warning on All Star Batman And Robin The Boy Wonder: this release has gotten a very mixed reception with fans. The book is basically Frank Miller’s excuse to goof off and play Batman for satire, while Jim Lee gamely tries to play it straight with the artwork. Approach at your own risk.

All Star Superman is fucking amazing, though. I highly recommend it.

It really depends what kinds of stuff you like man, do you like Japanese comics, Superhero, Alternative, or what? You’ve got to give us some kind of direction before you can get a good suggestion. As far as Marvel, I’d always to read some of the old Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Thor and Daredevil trade paperbacks. Manga… you should read Akira, if you haven’t, Buddha by Osamu Tezuka, these lists go on too long… give some input on what you are interested in, and then I can give better suggestions.

Astonishing X-men is a good starting point for Marvel collecting. Only 3 trades so far. Also, the story is pretty self contained.

Yeah I’m also new to comics, I just read up on wikipedia and lurked on newsarama. It wasn’t hard to get up to speed if you want to.

Then I just hopped in and started reading. No problems at all.
