Well I basically just bought my WWE Brawl stick and looking to mod it over time but at the moment I only have enough funds to mod either the stick or buttons. I just switched over from my xbox 360 controller from my stick and overtime I do to plan on modding both but I am not sure which one should be of priority. To me the buttons are fine and the stick seems to be hard to input but I am not sure if thats my lack of experience with the stick or the stick itself.
I’d wait until you can do both. You’ll probably save a bit on shipping.
I would definitely practice with your stick for several…months…at the least. It’ll take a long while for you to get fully comfortable with the stick, and only then, will you have an idea on what exactly you’ll want out of your stick or buttons. At this point, everything’s going to feel weird to you, so just practice on it for now, and worry about the mods later on.

ok thanks! I am having trouble in doing my down forward moves supers and specials in umvc3 and I read in some reviews the stick is wonky / unresponsive so I thought I should just mod it now
I started on a Brawlstick, just hold off until you can get both buttons and a JLF, assuming it won’t be bank breaking, that’s what I did, the Sanwa stuff is way better then the stock madcatz shit. Then if you really feel like you want to made adjustments go from there.

sweet ok was it really easy to install because I am scared to break it.
I would change out both at the same time as soon as you can. Its not like getting good on crap parts are gonna increase your skill in any way

DUDE MOD THAT JOYSTICK FIRST, F*** THE FEW DOLLAR SHIPPING COST… That joystick is one of the worst ones i have ever used in my whole FG life time… sure you can wait… but if its really hard for you to make money like that, or if your a little kid, just mod the joystick now… Yes the directionals are fu*** up in about 6/10 of those sticks, the rumors are true. Whenever you’re ready with the money for the buttons, go for it.

So you recommend going for the stick first? I am a college student and money is getting tight thats why i can only buy one part atm.
If you’re capable, just get this. http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-jlf-tp-8y-sk-joystick-no-plate-installed/ and steal the metal plate from the one in there, It should fit. Then, grab 6-8 of these, they should fit in the stock madcatz casings http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-sw-68-button-micro-switch/ I haven’t really had issue with the plastic cases, it’s just the switches that seem to blow. As for installation, it’s a breeze just take a picture of the wiring or write which color goes to which button and save yourself a headache. You should probably head to Tech Talk either way I spent a good two weeks reading on there before my stuff arrived.
Edit : here’s a tutorial video, I assure you the stick is the same despite the name.
(RE)Edit: Helps if I link it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4wDobtOmY0
I had that stick and the Joystick is a good Sanwa copy. The buttons are what should be changed first they are complete crap on Brawl stick.
From personal opinion and I have done the mod myself. I did both and recommend you do both if you can.
how much did u pay for it? Honestly if you buy during a major you can get a brand new big kid Madcatz TE (usually the soul caliber) stick for only $80 that comes with quality parts and is much more comfy to play on than that tiny tot brawl case.

I paid 30 dollars for the stick and the parts will cost up to around 40
Should’ve gotten a Qanba Q1.
Stick costs 60$, stock parts are good, comes with 3 restrictor gates and a white cloth, the case is heavy and doesn’t feel cheap and it’s slightly bigger than the Brawlstick which makes it fit into your lap better and you can still upgrade to Sanwa parts later on, if you desire.
If you can get a refund, I’d go for it and get a Q1 from EightArc.

unfortunately I can’t get a refund.
brawl stick is fine
the pcb is probably better than the qanba q1 anyway
I’m going to echo eltrouble’s advice, just go practice. The stick and buttons aren’t so bad that you can’t learn on them. Just mod them later when you really know what you want.
30 isn’t bad for that stick, but likr Trouble Brewing says, practice with what you got. Then set that money and save up to by a big kid stick. It never hurts to have an extra stick lying around for friends that visit.
