It shouldn’t be. Blacktoof must have forgotten to change the st.jab hitbox on chained jab. Same thing Capcom did with FSE moves. So unless Capcom forgets it should work in Ultra. Also love your avatar. I have that wallscroll hanging up in my room. <3
I’ve heard the new jab is still iffy at best on some characters.
Hi, it’s MCZ Mago.
One of Juri’s key changes in USF4 is that her crouching medium kick’s start-up has been made faster. Thanks to that, you can now combo from crouching light kick to crouching medium kick.
From crouching light and medium kicks, you can then go into combos that do more damage than what was previously possible, giving Juri a boost in terms of damage potential.
Then there’s EX Senpusha (Pinwheel). Previously, although EX Senpusha had invulnerability properties on start-up, the invulnerability frames actually end right before the move’s first active hit frame occurs. In this version, that has been changed so that the invulnerability properties are extended to cover active frames, so moves that used to trade with EX Senpusha before, will completely lose to it now.
And the third big change to Juri is with regards to her EX Fuhajin. Previously, when you performed EX Fujajin with medium kick + heavy kick, the fireball comes out an angle that whiffs on crouching opponents. Now, it will actually hit them.
Overall, the changes made to Juri do not really change the way she’s meant to be played in the previous version. Rather, the changes here have made her a more stable character to play with.
Her footsies game is now significantly stronger, and the changes to EX Senpusha and EX Fuhajin are things that Juri players had already been wishing for previously. So I think Juri players in general will be quite happy with the changes.
Doing some number crunching with U2, W2 and ex.Senpusha (just for comparison):
Divekick throw/tech bait -> U2 = 400 Damage
Divekick throw/tech bait -> W2 = 310 Damage
Divekick throw/tech bait -> ex.Senpusha = 190 Damage
c.MK xx lk.Fuhajin Release xx FADC xx U2 = 452 Damage
c.MK xx lk.Fuhajin Release xx FADC xx W2 = 366.5 Damage
c.MK xx lk.Fuhajin Release xx FADC xx c.Fierce xx ex.Senpusha = 316 Damage
I think W1 is something like 10.5 seconds whereas U1 is 15?
I’d like to hear some opinions on whether or not you guys would use W over U?
My thinking is that W would give us more options for the sacrifice of maybe 1 meter’s worth of damage.
Thanks for the translation @AriesWarlock. I tried to find one but couldn’t
I don’t know… I’ll try it out, but I’ve already found the matchups that I can’t FSE. I guess having U2 as well has it’s uses, but FSE is a tide turner in the matches that you can use it. I’m also a bit wary of using W because I know I’ll fish for U2 setups at times, and the ones that I can do can be easy to read. Maybe using W would be good for longer sets, where you can use FSE to sort of train them to forget the U2 setups though.
I don’t know if I’ll use W. U1 vs U2 most of the time is potential damage vs guaranteed. With W, you get a short mix-up and low guaranteed damage. I feel that WU will be at it’s most powerful very late in a round where a knockdown leads to a activation and potential game winning mix-up or a confirm leads to an U2 combo. I think W hurts her comeback-abliity.
Another thing I was thinking about was her change to counter. Now that we take grey damage we also get Ultra meter. This means vs a fireball character, Juri can get Ultras pretty fast. Getting an U1 early, and still having enough life to get another or an U2 seems like it could be very strong. Red Focus would also help with this.
I don’t know. It’s too early to tell. I need the game in my hands.
I plan on using W ultra for about every matchup. I think the amount of options that it gives you for landing either option is just too strong too ignore. Most matches that I use U1, I find that I don’t use the full duration anyways, so I see W ultra is just having an additional option on top of my ultra 1.
Which got me thinking… if you block a DP/ultra/etc. what do you punish with in W ultra mode? U2 if it will kill, if not U1? Does your punish depend on how much revenge meter you have? Thoughts?
A full W1 punisher combo does 396 damage. The worst option does 344 damage on the 8 chars that punisher doesn’t work on. A full W2 (I saw someone else use this notation and I think I like it) does 480 * 0.75 = 360. Level 3 focus into W2 should be 396 as well. I would say use W2 on those 8 chars if you don’t want to bother practicing their specific W1 punisher combos AND if you have time to charge a full focus (edit: oh yeah, and if you’re almost dead. W1 combo doesn’t care what your life is). Otherwise, W1 for the extra potential.
I like situational and W is certainly the situational-king.
The way I plan on using W1:
- Have Meter
- Need immense pressure after corner knockdown
- Feelin it
The way I plan on using W2:
- Divekick
- Anti-air Fireball in corner
@Diaphone, for punishing, I plan on using standard punish BNB unless it’s going to guarantee the end of the set.
I thought i’d post this here. Yossan is playing in this usf4 matches and he’s using most of juri’s new changes.

I didn’t realized it until i saw the first round of that gouken match. If they didn’t forget to fix cr.MK during FSE then overhead into cr.MK is now a 2 frame link, making comboing easier against characters where cl.MP would whiff or far.MP is a 1 frame link (e.g. Rose)
Oh god I think I am in love with Ultra D:
That new EX divekick looks like it will be quite useful. Also, that combo cr. lk, cr. lk, st. lp, st. mp xx special!
I hope you can see this last-minute request, but please try to EX lk.hk.Shikusen from 3/4 screen 1-hit -> U2 please.
Also, from the videos posted here, I don’t think they changed the frame data on the divekick =( It looks faster but still punishable =(
Edit: I dunno if you guys realize, but making ex.Dive Kick have command followups means proration on each hit like Gen’s Gekiro or Chun’s regular Legs. #WillNotUse unless there’s some weird followup we get after only 2 hits? >.>
Ah. It looks so sexy! Now I really want to know how good/bad st.lp’s new hitbox is.
Yeah, I’ve been practicing the links ever since I saw this… f.st.mp is gonna be amazing when we can cancel it.
NCR Report:
St.LP whiffs on crouching Cammy, hits crouching Rose, Blanka, Poison, everyone else so far. If you chain into a second LP the second one often whiffs completely.
Ex dive kick is safe on block. I hit Ken in the stomach and 3f DP did not punish. In fact I’ve been abusing the hell out of it and nobody can punish it with anything so far.
1-hit LK+HK EX dive kick from max distance combos into U2.
I haven’t missed a single EX dive kick (full mash into wall bounce) into U2 yet. Not sure if I just got better or the hitbox is really that much better.
Far MP is godlike. Corner pressure is overwhelming.
Juri can dash under Poison’s LP and MP fireballs. It’s as easy as Gouken’s. Didn’t test HP.
Juri vs Hugo is like 7-3 or better for Juri. Maybe 8-2. HK fireball can hit Hugo in the head during some of his crouching attacks. Only when he presses a button though. And of course when he walks.
I saw a far HK (non-FSE) whiff on crouching Poison.
Cr. MK and far LK are great too. It feels like I can play footsies now.
EX mid fireball for pressure is way more amazing than I realized. Probably the second best buff behind far MP.
Rolento’s cr. LP is really good. I couldn’t get Juri’s cr. MK to go under it.
Double ultra is really nice. I like it a lot more than I thought I would.
One last thought: Some guy thought it would be funny to play vanilla Sagat against me. I beat him fairly easily. Make of that what you will.

Ex dive kick is safe on block. I hit Ken in the stomach and 3f DP did not punish. In fact I’ve been abusing the hell out of it and nobody can punish it with anything so far.
1-hit LK+HK EX dive kick from max distance combos into U2.
…EX Dive Kick to the STOMACH IS SAFE!!!
WE MADE IT EVERYONE!! \o/
