Killey you forgot to add her corner game to the strengths section. That cannot be ignored/looked over.
Thanks for pointing that out. I thought it was that way too but then when I went to double the check the info on eventhubs it had it the other way around. lol
I’m going to be covering her defensive options later on.
I’ve noted that neutral j.Forward has the most forward hitting hit boxes, however, it actual has more active frames then neutral j.RH (just 1 f though) and I suspect the only reason you feel neutral j.RH stays out longer is due to the fact that it has 8f start up VS neutral j.Forward’s 5f start up.
you’re right. well i don’t use neutral j. hk for air to air much so i didn’t know.
Could you explain the finger formation you are talking about? SSF4 is my first fighter so I’d like to start with the finger positioning you are talking about as I don’t have a normal one I use, I don’t have any habits to break.
What I mean is “index finger on top left button” “bottom half of index finger on bottom left button” “middle finger on top middle button” “bottom middle finger on bottom middle button” etc something specific
thanks man
Well he means it’s kinda weird to hold fireballs sometimes. For example, for me since I use pad, I have to have my right index finger holding down R1, half of my thumb holding down O and gotta use the other half to press other buttons in some cases. You get kinda accustomed to it after a while.
Just holding the three kick buttons for holding in your fireballs. Then trying to rush in and letting go at separate times. It gets awkward. I usually just hold 2 fireballs anyways.
oh ok, so he just means holding down 1-3 kick buttons down at a time for awhile. I thought some crazy advanced juri-specific way to place your hands on the buttons (for arcade sticks)
sounds about right to me then, waiting to hear directly from the OP but if not I’m content, thanks guys
As people have mentioned already it’s not about specific finger placement to play her it’s more to do with having to press and hold down multiple buttons and maintaining your offense and defense. Also, don’t get hung up on button placement on your stick though if this is your first fighter and you are using stick I recommend you check out my buddies tutorial videos to get started on your baiscs.
Shameless plug I know but quite honestly you’d be surprised how much these help people.
Thanks man I’ll watch that right now. But yeah I feel a bit over my head sometimes especially after reading sonic_hurricanes 12 page guide to footsies as I didn’t understand half of it
edit: looks like a great youtube channel, I’ll watch the tutorials from chapter 1
Footsies is not an easy concept to grasp and although I was aware of the term and use a long time ago I’ve only grasped how to do some basic level footsies in my game as well being able to spot footsie work from other players. It’s something that comes to you over time but it’s not the easiest thing to do.
Anyways, I’ve added some more info to j.Strong and j.Fierce in regards to her fuzzy guard setups. I’ve also added a bit more information to Fuhajin Store in regards to her defensive options when storing fireballs. I’ll have to reorganize some of the information as I didn’t really want to put fuzzy guard setups in the beginner part of the guide but I wanted people to be aware of them.
Excuse me sir but how exactly would one handle an individual who spams crouching jabs on wake up and after my block strings? Keep in mind i finish my block strings with a light pinwheel so this in it self might not even be safe to begin with.
You might want to mention that :hk: Fuhajin doesn’t whiff against tall characters, such as Zangief and Thawk at specific ranges. Not exactly a huge omission, but it’s crucial for those matchups.
Please keep general strategy questions to the general discussion thread or strategies thread. I only want important information in this thread so we can consolidate all information to this thread. However, to answer your question you can do a multitude of things. You can walk out of their crouching jab range (character specific) and then punish their recovery or you can put a read on their jab spamming and do EX Pinwheel to catch their jab. You could back dash out of their range and when they think it’s safe to jump you can anti-air them, etc… There’s a lot of things you can do but you have to place the right reads on your opponent. Those strategies may not work on some players and it’s about reading your opponent. Sometimes you have to respect your opponent enough that they won’t do something scrubby like mash jabs or mash reversal allowing to continue your pressure. Other times you have to show no respect to them and just bait those tactics out.
King Zeal:
Okay, I’ve added that information to the first post.
To everyone else I’ve added her zoning gameplay to the 3rd post. I’m hoping I’ve communicated good information there but it was difficult to keep it concise and general without getting too specific and overly complicated.
Oh gawd ! Thank you for this post ! More reading to analyze and put to practice .
This should definitively be sticked !
Holy shit Killey. I’ve only read the first post about her normals, but even just that part is gdlk. Good shit man!
Sorry bout that but thanks for the reply, ill keep that in mind. Oh and to make up for my mistake, not sure if anyone has mentioned this but apparently you can combo into FSE off a jumping rh and a cross up mk

Another set up i saw for FSE was off an air to air mp you can FSE before they hit the ground and hit em with what ever follow up you have available.
Good shit man, I’m gonna try and use ultra 1 in a couple of ranked matches, your topic has given me confidence! :V
Still waiting for the rest of this guide, been great so far! Very interested to read about the rest of her playstyles.
