Juri Thread

Ya i was wondering that too, I think she’ll be fine vs grapplers which is cool cause i feel those are the worst bad match ups to have. lol at j.faps, i meant j.fp though it is pretty sexy.

Problem with that match was that the Juri player seemed too keen to try and get close to do damage, whereas a better player would’ve probably played runaway the whole match. That said, Hakan’s EX slide is worrying.

EDIT:
Watching the T.Hawk match from the same channel. Pretty much goes with my above statement (especially if you consider previous T.Hawk/Juri vids). Getting up close against a grappler simply isn’t the way to go.

EDIT 2:
Another Juri vs Hakan video from the same channel. Awesome (if situational) corner Ultra setup at JxKaH9cIjmY#t=0m56s"]00:56 and a pretty decent combo into super at .

It seems here that the Hakan player hasn’t learned to use EX slide to punish fireballs yet, unlike in the other one where getting that in helps turn the match in Hakan’s favor.

This question goes to MAGUS and the others who have been able to get a good taste of what Juri can do;

Can Juri play footsies? I am pretty interested in her, and ive seen some videos of her but it all seems like crazy rushdowns into hit confirming her string into hk.pinwheelkick. Does she have any strong footsie game with which we could set up some jump in situations where we dont get srked to the face?

Thanks!!!

Last two hits missed, bit of a shame but not a huge loss I suppose. Her Super doesn’t seem very combo friendly

only air normal cancelable to dive kick his mp and you can ultra of first hit of normal dive kick magus did it in a demo for 1 up that’s lying around somewhere. Timing looked tight though.

EDIT:

Magus does divekick to super work?

Boo, no j.faps to dive kick!

Also, doesn’t normal dive kick to Ultra only work in the corner (the only times I’ve seen it done is from there)?

Pretty sure I’ve seen j.MP to dive kick to ultra midscreen in a Juri vs. Makoto match on the metro city stage.

LuMalu: I feel she has strong footsies, at least she has a lot of useful pokes. Her c.mk is really good for whiff punish into fk pinwheel, s.lk stuffs pokes well and her c.mp is active for a very long time. Infact you can actually meaty c.mp into another c.mp. s.mk stuffs a ton of stuff too since it’s 2 hits and the first hit comes out really fast, of course s.RH will be good to clear low pokes and what not it has amazing range and can keep you opponent on his toes. I have not played enough to really test what works vs who but im sure when the game comes out we can find what works vs who as all her pokes essentially have use.

I could not get the j.mp xx dive kick into ultra very consistently, im sure if I had time to sit in training mode with it I could figure it out, but it felt like landing vipers ultra with the inconsistencies  Just theorizing about it, it almost seems like the U1 will be better to use for free harassment, while using U2 vs characters you can use that trick vs will actually be beneficial since landing U2 after wall bounce is pretty easy.

Like U1 can work how you imagine, I dont think there is gonna be some crazy combos invented but heres an example of a good pressure string:

 • Knockdown, Activate ; c.mp (meaty) s.lk c.mp, f+mk (hit) c.lk c.mk c.mp c.fk (knockdown), cross up j.mk f+mk (block or hit) c.lk c.mk s.fk xx fk pinwheel fadc, c.lk, c.lk, kara throw.

So you can just freestyle shit as you see how you opponent reacts, most characters will try to mash a good reversal but you can work around it and bait it, if they teleport you can basically hit any tele with a divekick free, thank god

How good is the kara throw?

Yeah the opponent most likely can interrupt during the overheads, but I think he’s going off the assumption that they won’t actually try to, and will expect the combo to end. It’s a reset, which as we know are risky, can be very rewarding.

That being said, I’d say it’s a little safer than a reset was in SF4, since all DPs beat every type of reset you could imagine and that doesn’t seem to be the case this game, but I still wouldn’t try it against Ryu/Sagat/Akuma/Ken.

Olive Green and Purple is the best guys. GTFO out of here.

And I can’t wait for this game, i’m already hearing of several people who already have it and it’s making me angry that I don’t.

What I’m thinking, as soon as they see you activate it they’ll be mashing the shit out of their reversal faster than you can say “side boob” :stuck_out_tongue:

I heard her Hard trials all involve her FSE. That true? If so im sure there are a good BnB in FSE in there.

Of course it’s guessing, it’s a mix up. It wasn’t intended to be a fail proof string, just effective pressure. Just because ppl can interrupt the overhead does not mean you should not go for it, that is like saying it’s pointless to attempt a throw because you can be reversaled or throw tech’d. Plus there are effective ways to bait people from mashing out of the block strings, such as c.lk (pause) c.lk…(insert U1 combo here). I think even if all you get is some positioning and a knockdown it wasn’t too shabby  U2 is definitly more garunteed damage but I found it hard to land often, idk maybe in the long run it might be better but U1 seems like dun.

Interesting stuff there. I personally like to thank you and Dr. Dogg for supplying decent info for this girl.

I personally going to try FSE over Kaisen. Interesting though. Kaisen is guaranteed comboable damage.
FSE looks to be an offensive juggernaut under a time limit.

I would say Kaisen perhaps is better though. But IDK FSE looks good and is more interesting to be,

So, just out of curiosity, is anyone still interested in the training room idea? We’ve learned quite a lot since I made that post, but I figure it can still be a fun experience and can bring the Juri community closer together. For anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about :

I think if we do still go through with this, maybe it’d be better to do it on the weekend after release rather than on so we’re not mashing out stuff and just pushing buttons hoping something works.

I think it’ll still be good to do on opening day, and everyday after. A few months down the road, I’m sure we’ll find other Juri’s that we will like playing with so might as well start ASAP.

^ Nice. Looks like Magus was right about the jump away j.mp > dk.

I have asked before a while back but…

Does anyone know what the frame data is on the first hit of Juri’s fb kick? Magus? Anyone? I’d like to know how viable of a tool it is as an offensive, pressure tool.

Also, regarding Juri’s ultra… when it comes to a game like SF4, where a good/bad ultra can tremendously effect the overall usefulness of a character, I would think her Ultra II would be the better choice due to the GUARANTEED damage. Juri’s Ultra I relies too much on making the right guesses, while putting yourself at the risk of a reversal. Against a character like Ryu, who’s sitting on two meters, Ultra I just seems like too much trouble than it’s worth. Even when you find an opening, unless she has a guaranteed string that would take off a great deal of damage (and hopefully isn’t dependent on a full stock of meter), I’d most definitely be going with Ultra II.

But even now, it’s too early to tell. Who’s knows what FSE exploits will be found as time goes on or how many different set ups for Ultra II will be realized.

Also as far as Hakan goes, unlike other grapplers, Hakan looks like shit when he’s not oiled up. So as Juri, I think it’d be a good idea to rush his shit down. Don’t give him a chance to breath. And if Hakan’s command throw doesn’t have great range when he’s not oiled up, then Juri can really screw him over close range. And with her dive kick, she can close in and punish from full screen away. Just what I think of what the match up might end up being like. Though T.Hawk/Zangief is a different story o_0.

Man! The hype is really coming back for me. I really can’t wait to play Juri when Super comes out.

If I can get the PS3 version day one as well (gettin’ the 360 one first) I’d do it

btw how much health does Juri have? I’d figure it’d be kinda low
