Yeah, I’d much prefer 26 episodes per arc as well.
But Phantom Blood is only the first 5 chapters and Battle Tendency is only 7. Stardust Crusaders is longer then both and it still fit in 10 episodes in the OVA.
Unless you’re expecting tons of filler, Phantom blood can easily be done by episode 4 or 5. By the end of 2, Dio should have tested the mask and found out its power. By 3, JoJo should have met Speedwagon. Learning about ripple and the final battle between JoJo and Dio can take place in 4 to 5, ending with Dio’s head attacking JoJo on the cruise ship, setting up Battle Tendency and Stardust Crusaders.
Yeah, I had reservations about the pace of the first ep, but like D3v and RadientSilverGun said, Phantom Blood went by somewhat quickly in the manga. So they could get away with quickening things. And the episode was pretty sick all around.
Though…when it comes to part 2, they can take their sweet time with that one, I want that part to be as faithful as they can make it because that part kicks so much fucking arse.
Jojo’s been getting a pretty good reception so far, I thought that newcomers to Jojo would find it dated, which was a surprise. I’m laughing at the people who’re finding it whacked out, 'cause if they think things are crazy now, they have NO idea how absolutely insane the entire series gets. At least stick around for Part 2.
And I need to finish off Part 4 now that they’re re-doing the scanlations.
It was 5 and 7 volumes, not chapters. Additionally, the OVA did skip quite a lot of stuff that wasn’t directly related to Jotaro or Dio.
The part 3 OVA skipped pretty much everything, it also changed some stuff.
EDIT: JoJolion chapter 14 came out yesterday
Read Jojolion chapter 14 today in fact. It’s hooking me in, I really wanna find out what the hell’s going on lol.
Spoiler
So many questions. What was Josuke doing naked? Why’s he got four balls/testicles? Why’s Kira dead? Why are the Higashikatas so weird? And loads more. This version of Holly’s pretty cool with a stand that isn’t choking the crap out of her this time around, plus she’s a proper pervert and everything lol. Dumb nurse dragged Yasuho away before she could get to the meat of things, proper tease. GPS stand must belong to Yasuho, I suspected it was hers before this chapter because of the GPS’ proximity and Yasuho being in contact with Joseph throughout the chapters, but the suspicious bite marks, Holly’s words and the stand appearing behind her sealed the deal. And the kid’s got two badges, a Joestar one and a Giorno ladybug one.
No 4 or 5 is too fast. 10 to 13 would be better for Phantom Blood. I’d like there to be actual pacing and tension in the show instead of it running in fast forward the whole way. I’m showing this to my friends who haven’t read the Manga I would like them to get to know characters like Zepelli an shit.
Zepelli
Spoiler
his death will be completely meaningless and Jojo’s reaction to it ring hollow if he’s killed the episode he’s intro’d in, or even the next one. We need time to get to know these characters for them to do their thing.
Rush through it in a blaze of glory and we’ll miss a lot of the good stuff that doesn’t involve peoples heads being sheered off at the neck line. I don’t think Phantom Blood needs to be a two season affair by any means, sorry Cryoh, but it’s certainly got enough worthwhile content to fill out one seasons worth of episodes. Johnathan deserves his time just like Joseph and Jotaru, despite how quickly i’d like to get to Battle Tendency.

[details=Spoiler]* Well from what we know Kira had no balls when he was found dead and Gappy is a 90 percent dna match for him. It seems like Gappy took Kiras balls using Soft and Wet but for what reason is unknown. I don’t know if you’ve read Steel Ball Run yet (you should if you haven’t already) but the little asian man who appeared briefly during a checkpoint is the great great great grandfather of the Higashikatas. *
I think the stand that was in Yasuho’s shadow was her stand and not Hollys but I guess we’ll find out soon enough in a couple chapters. I love how Araki made Gappys stand the weakest stands any of the protagonists have had. It can’t even OraOra without breaking a arm. [/details]
[details=Spoiler] I thought Holly’s stand is the nudie magazine. But thinking about it now, perhaps she’s just really good at telling people’s measurements, Jojo chars tend to be ridiculously smart lol. Or she’s just crazy.
And yeah, come to think of it, I remember the DNA test. I’m guessing Kira died from having his balls taken(lol), but there’s definitely something more going on. Perhaps the balls weren’t the only thing Gappy took. Few suspicions, but they’re all dumb theories really.[/details]
And yup, I’ve read Part 7. That part was amazing to say the least. I dare say, it’s the best out of the bunch in terms of characters and writing IMO.
what the FUCK kind of hentai doujinshi are you guy reading?
*[details=Spoiler] LOL if her stand had something to do with the porno mag that would be amazing. But I thought her being so much like rainman is because well Gappy displayed the same ability when he was in the hospital. But yeah as far as the Kira stuff we have no idea what happened to him or why Gappy was by those wall eyes. If I had to hazard a guess those Wall Eyes will probably figure in heavily into the plot. [/details]
I love Part 7 and I think it’s the best part that I’ve read (I have yet to finish part 4 and 5) for the reasons you said and more. Just amazing on every level and lets be honest who doesn’t love Funny Valentine?
@Negative-Zero: We’re talking about JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 8 (JoJolion). *
i wasnt joking…i need some jojo avatars going. non prem status.
Remote Romance (JoJo’s art exhibition) is live now!
EDIT: Awww it’s gone
So now I’m fully up to date with JoJolion. <3 Daiya.
Missed Remote Romance.
Lmao Negative-Zero, I’m not sure what I’m reading myself. It’s proper madness.
@DarkGeneral: I’d actually recommend Part 7 as an introduction to Jojo for new-comers, since it requires almost no knowledge of the previous Jojos to make sense of everything, apart from the ending. Then they can work their way back. People find some parts of Jojo dated(Part 1 for example),and I feel Part 7’s perfect for those who want a bit of everything really.
And[details=Spoiler]Valentine is sick. Really good character, plus a wicked stand as well. His whole backstory’s nuts too, with the whole handkerchief story and the American Flag as a scar on his back. He genuinely wanted the best for the country.[/details]
I always prefer to start from the start, then again I love all the parts for their own reasons.
Yeah, I personally think it’d more ideal to start from the beginning as well, unfortunately, a few don’t have much tolerance for Part 1 because it’s manly shonen and find it too old and not as polished as the rest of his work. I like shonen, so no complaints from me though lol. I actually thought a lot of people would dislike Part 1, but it seems a lot of people seem to like it, which was surprising.
And same here, I like all the parts equally for different reasons, I don’t even have a favourite/least favourite, they’re all great to me.
I think it’s a mix of the Dio Johnathan relationship being so unusual for a shonen story, and Dio in general.
Spoiler
Kira didn’t have his balls since birth.
The first arcade fighting game got me into this series and its still my fav to this day. Even though I spend no time learninv and reading everything thats is Jojo’s I’m always interested in anything that has to do with it.
Im somewhere after series 5 in the manga but the translastions were unbearable. Got any sources?
