Come to think of it, what did 1.01 add from 1.00? I can’t remember if this was a launch day patch or something that came soon after and actually added or fixed anything.

I actually don’t have the game, but I recognized the immediate superiority of a luchadoremon. Being a tiny hawkdude was a bonus.

JoJo related, I did a health bar study of everyone getting hit by Shigekiyo’s bnb into level 2. I haven’t sat down and edited the footage yet, but some of the results are surprising (Heremes has some of the most health, for example!)

Oh wow I was there and didn’t even notice your set-up. Although, I was in the anime corner pretty much the whole time, so yeah haha. I just bought the game over HK PSN since I’ve always been interested in Jojo’s in general(finally started the manga back in august). I found SaltyPete’s system mechanics video, but I would definitely love any other resources. Is there any sort of specialized site or wiki for the game series like Dustloop/Mizuumi/Smashboards?

between my other video, I’m gonna release a really quick video about combo rules and stuff; I still see a lot of not optimized combos because of too much damage scaling and stuff. hopefully I’ll get the other video out before the new patch prolly makes it obsolete!

Does that post-time-stop DIO loop work midscreen, or do you need the screen edge? If you need the screen edge, does the combo carry full screen if DIO’s back is to the wall, or does DIO need to be midscreen?

so for the loop to work normally, you need to be near the corner. the good thing about it is that because DIO’s stand on 2L and 5L have such huge range, that you can usually always fit one loop even if you’re kinda up against the side of the wall as long as you’re close enough for the 2M to hit. I can’t exactly remember if you can get anything to hit after you do one loop midscreen.

the one that works ANYWHERE is where you do timestop after HHA. HHA places them in a certain position on the battlefield, so it’ll always get them into the corner if you do timestop after it.

Some highlights:

  • Baoh’s 2L and j.M normals either have horrible hitboxes or stand hurtboxes have weird properties to them that cause moves like these to miss where they shouldn’t.
  • There are some legit block strings that are so plus on block that you can loop them infinitely under the right conditions (like needing just one bar of meter to PC) until the opponent becomes guard broken.
  • Following from plus on block stuff, you can stylish dodge out of block stun in some instances like deep jH > unblockable GHA. Not sure if this is true in general since I’ve tried it before with normal block strings or multi-hit moves and never got it to work unless there was a gap in the string.
  • Apparently you can’t jump out of a throw attempt if you’re in block stun. Not sure if this is a case of being able to throw out of block stun in general (though I’m sure this wasn’t the case before), or the actual jump attempt while in block stun allows them to throw you. Regular throws can be still be teched, however it’s a lot more dangerous if the character has command throws and can combo from them, making them essentially unavoidable scenarios.

This was all done under training mode settings, so there’s a chance it might not perfectly emulate a scenario with humans, but it seems likely to be accurate.

I have no idea what’s going on with Jolyne there – I actually might buy that being legit + on block, but there’s got to be a gap there where you can mash something (Stylish Dodge or reversal), no way that’s airtight.

Fuck Campaign mode, this weekend I’m plugging in P2 joystick and holding up, lol. Now I’m curious as to what the true practical nature of this stuff is…

Yeah I had to pick between Fatty or Baoh to finish off the rest of my PSN card, but Baoh’s mysterious allure won out. Fatty’ll just have to wait until the NA release, lol.
