JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle confirmed by Bandai-Namco

Not at all!

Okay, I think I figured out what was going wrong with my Avdol combos.

The taunts I was using were too long and the Variation exploded before the taunt completed. Problem is, right now I only have ā€œYes I Amā€ and ā€œHell2Uā€ unlocked. Can you unlock taunts from specific opponents in Campaign mode, or is it 100% random?

Yeah, the rewards lists for the bosses in Campaign details what medals (costumes, colours, taunts, etc.) you can unlock from them. GameFaqs has topics for all the campaign reward lists so far:

Speaking of taunt combos, if you have characters who are dependent on switching from their default taunts/lines to be able to perform theirs, wouldn’t it be an issue in local gatherings if whichever system you’re playing on doesn’t have them unlocked, much less be willing to go through the trouble of customising the various characters to do so? In that case, maybe it might be a good idea to keep a list of people who can do taunt combos off their default set, and what sets the characters who can’t need.

If this game was going to be a huge tournament thing, then yeah, it would be very annoying to ensure that taunt-reliant characters like Jolyne, Avdol, etc. had the proper taunts unlocked. But since this game is going to be mostly a side-tournament/casual-play kinda thing, I don’t think it’s too big a deal.

EU trailer!

I’m very hype for this game but whenever I bring it up or watch matches on Youtube there’s usually people complaining about the game being plaqued with infinite combos and unbalances, as well as being too slow.

I’m still gonna be getting this day one when it hits Western shelves but I’m still kinda nervous.

The game has no practical infinites anymore.

People like to complain about games they don’t play.

Main problem is that a lot of people stopped paying attention to this game on day 3. They saw only the short-lived jab infinites and stuff like the Johnny horse loops (I still kinda miss those simply because ā€œhorse loopsā€ is an amazing combo concept) and either decided they weren’t going to play the game because they weren’t JoJo fans (understandable and inevitable), or they liked the game but were too FGC self-conscious to try and publicly play/promote a ā€œbadā€ game. I’d wager that a lot of people talking shit on this game don’t even know that the infinites got patched out in 1.02 (or worse, they quit in 1.02 thinking that the only fun in the game was the infinites, and those were no more).

I don’t really care about any of that. This game’s pretty damn fun for what it is, and it takes like 30 min/week to be any good at it if you’ve ever played fighting games before. I think the game can promote itself if you put it up as a casual station and explain a bit about it (probably assuming those people know at least a bit about JoJo, if not, I think it’d be understandably uninteresting).

every time there is an article about jojo on the front page, some complain about having to pay to recharge the battery, I just found out where is that option in the game but I never needed it.
It is obvious that such people never played the game but are quick to bash it.
I am running a whatsapp group about jojo for players in London uk, mainly to arrange offline meetup, we were 3 at the beginning now we are 8, still small but people saw the game, tried it and started playing it.

People hate the battery system on principle. Practically it’s virtually pointless, but that doesn’t matter to them, CC2 are still crooks for having it in there in their eyes. I hate it when people operate by that kind of mentality. I have friends who refused to buy AE for similar reasons for example. Hopefully they realize it payed off and buy USFIV, but somehow I doubt it.

Well thanks to the battery system having unlockables behind it all save data is account locked which is pretty bullshit when you want to play the game in a place with no internet or at a mate’s house when his internet in on the fritz, practically having the roster cut down from the full amount to the 14 initial unlocks unless you take the entire bloody console around with you can be a pain in the ass and it really hindered offline meetups with my friends until I got a car and could take the PS3 around places.

And lets be honest, that free to play crap in a full price game is just grimy, especially with the way information about it only seemed to start coming around after the pre-orders had shipped.

Yeah, even after all its nerfs, the battery system IS still bullshit. I still have barely anything unlocked (costumes, whatever, but stuff like Avdol and Jolyne’s short taunts sucks ass) because I can only play the game a few hours a week at my brother’s place. (I’ve tried to prod him to grind out a boss or two after work when I’m not there, but no go.) And trying to kill off a 7500-HP boss is still so soul-crushingly boring (even with the buff to battery recharge and the ability to recharge during training/versus mode) that half the time I take it as a sign to quit and go back to training mode, play BlazBlue or something else. But they’ve backpedaled as far as they’re going to with that, so I just have to grit my teeth and remind myself ā€œVersus mode is actually funā€.

point is battery grinding for free or pay for extra colors and costume like sf4 to name one, I choose the free option because I dont buy costume dlc, never did never will

Not to steal his thunder, but Leebee posted this amazing kickass combo/tech video that is absolutely worth discussing.

He is definitely the first person I’ve seen doing the juggle with polnareff in this vid. Does Polnareff have a way to hard knockdown from that point? if he could, he could do a few reps, hard knockdown, taunt combo from a whiffed J.C, theoretically…

haha just came to post it ;3

sorry for the lack of notes so far, having a stupid long day at work. I’ll get to it later.

a lot of the stuff in there is just basic kinda knowledge (can my character combo off of their throw? optimized BnB options…etc.) and then there’s tech and max damage kinda stuff too. I saw a lot of players not utilizing their character’s full potential and wanted to rectify that.

I haven’t got to play JoJos in a good while, but next time I got the chance I was going to see what I could think up PCing Hol Horse’s bottle toss. That video went above and beyond what I had in mind.

I just want to clarify that I’m not defending the battery system, but imo, refusing to buy the game for that reason alone is really lame and drama queen-y.

great video its always good
to do this in a real match

Btw, some of those Will restands are kinda character specific, are they not? I had a hard time getting them to work when playing around with them before.
