OH! and after that he used footage from the event in his trailer which I had happened to shoot.
People are actively making their own events and doing their own shit. But just because people aren’t actively supporting a heroine dealer, doesn’t mean that he’s not going to start a lot of shit by coming into the neighborhood and dealing heroine. That make sense?

He may only be one person, but he’s the person in charge of everything and that’s significant. If it was just one dude who had a relatively minor role then things would be different. How else do you protest something like this outside of denying them your patronage? This guy majorly messed with SoCal’s smash scene a few years ago too, but I don’t follow tournaments outside of my location so I didn’t know this was going on. I think he was completely blacklisted from SoCal smash to where he changed the company name to get away from the bad reputation…
@redrapper, imo it’s never a good business practice to ever deal with people who don’t work with contracts. Contracts are your lifeline to where you are guaranteeing that you are going to get some sort of compensation, and where you can force them to pay you legally. It’s especially important to photographers/videographers/editors since you basically can’t prove anything without anything written down on paper.
This is like that whole Chick-fil-a controversy. So just because there are people working there you should still support it even if you disagree with the way the company works? It isn’t really about if the players/sponsors/etc deserve it or not. You’re allowed to not support something you don’t like.

I will agree that Nelson needs to be made an example of, but it does not need to be just him. That’s all I will say on the matter.
The punishment for those hundreds is temporary. For them, life will move on. I think that’s plenty justifiable in order to permanently punish John Nelson and TL.
Well, they don’t deserve it…but in order to get rid of cancer like this (based on what MULTIPLE people say, there HAS to be some sort of truth to it, at least), sometimes you have to unintentionally kill the healthy cells as well. In this case, Hazmat might get pinched a bit (probably a lot if this Nelson foo skipped their payment). Besides, why in the world so many people are skipping the event and even the KOF community boycotted the event?
About making a new tourny…there’s actually one, its call SoCal Regional 2011 (the one at UCI), it was clean, and (compare to 2010) much better run (Props to ETR and the people holding the tourny down), seriously, this guy need to get on the BAN list and make sure he can NEVER start another tourny and f-ed all types of gamers (the FPS was really meh, but esp the FGC) in general.
On another note: @redrapper, just like jankanpo said, what u went through really Sucks ass, but I really don’t know if you can get any money back (since you don’t have a written contract with this shitbag), but seriously, anyone that offer to do ANYTHING that involves over $100 without Contract is frigging shady to me anyway
