I was wondering why there wasn’t any talk about the tourney on the frontpage, guess I know now. Here’s hoping we can get scumbags like him out of our community for good.
Pretty sure it’s no coincidence Level|Up, Madcatz, Chen, Ultradavid, etc. decided to sit this one out, and why there’s been no coverage on SRK, Eventhubs, etc. I’ve heard rumors that LU wasn’t paid, or paid properly, for streaming last year, and that they tried to take 10% of sales from the booths due to some kind of unexpected expenses or something. It may or may not be true, but it would fit with their MO.
Won’t happen. If we can’t even get them out of the US Goventment, how do you think were going to get these kinds of people out of the scene.
Just reread Jeff’s post. Some stuff he left out:
- TL didn’t only not want to sponsor your Tournament Jeff-- Markman had to fucking CALL HORI in order to get in touch with them about the whole thing. TL knew about the tournament and wouldn’t give Valle the number. Why? Because Sp00ky was doing a joint stream with them.
- Paul Koogler, the guy who runs Broken Tier, was also yelled at and screwed over by Nelson. A number of sponsors(including madcatz) were promised revenue and floor traffic that they didn’t receive or was just non existent at event they attended.
- Famous Story from Mike Ross the day he came to record stuff for my album:
Mike arrives with his girl and gootecks at the proud bird for WNF. John Nelson takes him aside. He had asked Mike and Goo to advertise Revelations on cc. They said “fine” if they got footage and all that or whatever.
“Hey Mike, I got you guys footage for Revelations from Level|up”
“Yeah, And?”
"Well, you walk into my venue and tournament, and you don’t even come up to me and say ‘hi John, thank you for everything you’ve done for me’"
Mike just laughed and walked away. SAME DAY THAT I HAD TO SIT DOWN AND TALK WITH THIS SCUMBAG PIECE OF SHIT ABOUT MY CONTRACT BEING REASSIGNED.

people have been warning about revelations and john nelson for close to 3 months now, it is not my fault you chose not to listen
If John Nelson is not put on the ban list and made an example of I will create chaos until he is
I’m sitting at the tournament right now, waiting for my ride to come into town. Money and such aside, this is my first major and it feels like a giant bust.
-Last night, it started 8 or 9 hours late because TL decided to not be cleared with the fire marshall beforehand.
-They announced the schedule change Thursday night by posting it on Twitter, after midnight, so many didn’t see it.
-I’m pretty sure they dropped the whole pro-am division they were plugging. I haven’t seen anything of the sort.
-HUGE venue, but maybe 30% is being used. Everything is organized horribly. There are a few signs, but they’re hardly noticeable.
-virtually no casual stations (and really no BYOC space)
-They should have split the SF4 bracket into a few pools. Trying to run it all as one big event is really lame.
-Not sure how most majors do it, but I’m pretty sure they just picked and choosed big name players to get byes in the bracket. Maybe that’s normal, but I feel like–unless there’s an objective system in place (like Evo points)–seeding should be random.
-Lighting sucks and there’s some guy taking flash photography. Lights the place up and is crazy distracting while playing.
-Really, it’s just not fun. I’ve consistently had more fun at the STA ranbats. Hell, my very first tournament (and 8-man SSF4 tourney in Fargo, ND) was far more enjoyable. Best part of Revelations was getting hands-on time with a Hitbox.
That’s really it. Maybe I’ll think of more later, but I’ll keep that to myself, so I stop bitching.
Though I think they’re playing a top 8 match right now, despite top 8 being saved for Sunday, allegedly. Screw it, my ride should be here soon. I’m leaving.

Another note about HORI.
All the BS with team HORI was caused by John Nelson and TO. HORI honestly was unaware of what was going on, and were extremely regretful of what happened to them when they found out. I have friends that work at HORI and they told me that the company felt terrible about what happened to the players, and to never work with TO and especially John Nelson ever again. Basically, John Nelson was the cause of all the BS
