Yeah, I’m upping the other raw int too, don’t worry. Once again, apologies but the commentary is more for us. Catharsis.
The only people who can stop something like this from ever happening again are:
[]Top players with large amount of followers
[]Famous players/members of the community with live shows

Leading websites such as SRK and eventhubs
In my opinion each of these failed in their job to protect the community from such a disgraceful turn of events:
Top players such as Justin and Champ just went the opposite direction and advertised the tournament…
People like Gootecks, Alex Valle, Jebailey, Ultradavid, James Chen and many many others maybe wrote sarcastic/hermetic tweets but nothing official/clear/close to a real warning that everyone could understand…
Redrapper who is a documentary maker could have used this story to make a documentary, he had the material, he had the knowledge but he didn’t do it until now.
SRK and Eventhubs were completely mute on this topic.
Who to blame? Everyone who had the influential power to inform the community should have done it. I’m sure there’s people who saved money in order to go to a tournament like that instead of keeping it to go somewhere else. And all these uninformed people (possibly even misinformed by the likes of Justin and FilipinoChamp) lost their money/time/trust in the community.
Think of the side effect of this event:
Everyone who took part in this event without knowing the people they were dealing with (Maximillian for example) got shit on without doing anything wrong.
Team Hazmat will be connected with such a shitty event. Unfortunately Haz himself, the others and Max are really cool guys who only made deals with the wrong people.
The sponsors that took part in this event will think about it twice when being contacted again for an FGC tournament.
The bad guy is obviously John Nelson but who pays the consequences is the community. And it’s all because no one took a clear stand to prevent all this to happen.
It’s even worse when you consider that here is full of people making their name big saying that this has already happened and who say they knew it would have happened.
Unfortunately John Nelson is not a problem anymore, the problem will be the next one like him.
I get it, trust me I understand wanting to take rocket launchers to dudes’ heads. But at the same time you are more or less handling material that is insightful on the issue. Putting the interview up and calling him a faggot when we’re already getting scrutinized and there are hella snitches in the community passing info to major news sources is not a good look.
First and foremost, the fact that SRK and Eventhubs haven’t even mentioned Revelations should be a sign that they are distancing themselves from the event. Redrapper is already doing his job by putting the information out there. Hell, Honzo Gonzo said this shit for the longest time.
If you so strong to get the word out, than write a damn article yourself about it.
Unsure if commentary was necessary, makes it seem more like bullying than exposing. Still, this is a pretty interesting saga.
Justin Wong and FChamp have joined Frieza.
But funny…
So did JN blow up Markman or whats happened
A little bit of FGC trivia…The prototype for leveluplive actually started in 2k6 with valle streaming ST/3S matches. It didn’t start in SHGL’s garage.
Back and Forth of MM and JN…
Did you ever stop to think that maybe there were reasons we couldn’t say anything? Like the well being of Andy Tatsu and Dustin, who we were worried would get dumped into an even DEEPER hole, along with level|up? It’s not like being the whistleblower is so fucking easy when you have friends still stuck behind the lines. And who made you the moral arbiter of the whole thing? We earnestly felt after Nelson cut ties with WNFs we were rid of him. You think I didn’t look into making a doco on this and consult evo? Maybe you should ask James David and Jebailey about the convo I had with them about the whole thing at evo 11.
The situation is much easier to divulge on when the shitstorm becomes public from players who attend. I honestly felt it was over with and out of respect for my peers didn’t speak on it either. It also doesn’t look good when a credible news source throws out dirty laundry in the open as libel and slander is serious shot. We’re not ignorant fucking buffoons running in circles and if that conflicts with your opinion well then you can go fuck yourself. I hope to stand there the day someone fucks you over and you can’t say a word to anyone so I can see the empathy wash over your face. Was it you that lost 1100 in cash you were told you’d receive or the hundreds you fronted for equipment? Was it you who had to delay an album for another year and a half cause this asshole just fucked your timetable? Explain to me the insight you have on this situation because all your doing is coming in and accusing us of being complicit when the world isn’t as simple as you like to pretend it is. There’s shit this guys done we can’t even talk on due to the respect of others, so throwing the blame on us is like chastising Jon benet Ramsey for being dead.
The only thing I regret was trusting the guy. I’ve stayed silent for good reason and now I can speak up. Either you can deal with that or act all presumptive about your ethics on the issue. But maybe you should think before slinging dirt on the very people this guy hurt.
John Nelson was the killer in Persona 4. #FuckJohnNelson
I didn’t know anything about TL or John Nelson before this thread…
The fact that Eventhubs and SRK didn’t write anything was strange at first, but seeing Fchamp and Justin advertise the tournament on stream and on twitter made me think that there simply was personal problems between eventhubs/srk and TL. If The two best Marvel players in the world tweet about a tournament I assume it’s worth going to it/watching the stream.
All I’m saying is that not everybody reads the forums or what Honzo Gonzo says. This was stuff important enough to be on the front page of the websites who thought it was good enough to be silent.
Good point. I’m heading down to a cyber cafe to speed up the upload as my connection sucks.
I
The day I’ll lose 1100 cash that I’m TOLD I would receive, the day I’ll invest in a work I have NO CONTRACT for, the day I’ll delay an album for a year and a half because some dude “GUARANTEED” me money, I’ll make sure not to introduce myself as a “not ignorant fucking buffoon running in circles” because I clearly am one.
Great Zinger Bro. It’s good to know that you’re so fucking infallible that you’ve never made a mistake before, and so that all the blame should just rest solely on me because
a) I had worked with Level|up in the past and not had troubles
b) I was worried about losing my relationship with Level|up in the long run due to this.
But thanks though. Kindly get the fuck off the thread now as you clearly have no idea what’s going on nor do you wish to attempt to empathize with anything.
Read the rest of the fucking post as there’s actual reasoning behind what happened. Prick.
Tell you what. Head to Amazon and buy yourself a soapbox so you can recite yourself lines in the mirror about how we totally left our posts the nights we were being robbed, and let Andy, Tatsu and Dustin know that since they WERE contractually obligated and were legally fucked over as well.
Lmao oh shit.
Trolley problem.
You can’t have it both ways, you can’t put Nelson and his supporters on blast then try and give Wong and Champ a free ride.
