Wow, you guys are still here. It’s been a few years since I looked at this forum. I wonder if Iparryu remembers me at all. It seems the planets may have finally alligned for me after all these years and I may try to get to Evo for the first time. Problem is I haven’t really been playing fighting games much in the last few years. Good news is I have some time to catch up and new games to try. I just picked up GG Xrd (I have no idea how to play this game) and am waiting for Tekken 7 to be released. Was playing Ultra and TT2 off and on for the last few years, but I think I got worse. 
Still here in Nagoya though. Anyone ever get to Evo before?

I picked up XRD as well. Still suck, but I got sick of ultra and I am mostly on League now. On a huge losing streak on ranked too…

'ello. I’m visiting Japan on the 13th of April for a week. I was looking for a place to stay and had a question. The location I’m looking at is in Shibuya but a short walk from Shinjuku. Would traveling back and forth from Shinjuku and Akihabara for a 2-3 days feel like a big hassel? I’ve never been to Japan before so I’m not really sure if I’ll be entertained enough to stay out all day and only come back for sleep or if I may need to return to rest my feet or store my purchases, ect. Just wondering if you think I should rent a closer location or if that’d be fine.
Shibuya isn’t a short walk from shinjuku… Trust me, i used to jog that 4 days a week.

Thanks but I think I got it. The room I’m renting is at Nishi-shinjuku-gochome station. So I just ride the train to Shinjuku station then take the Shinjuku line to Iwamotocho and walk the rest of the way. About a 30 minute trip according to 1 of the like 5 apps I downloaded onto my phone. Not too bad.

Planning on being in Japan in July, either in Osaka or Fukuoka for 5 days. Regardless of which city I’ll be staying near the Korean consulate for a visa run. I have already researched about Osaka, but what arcades are available and decent in Fukuoka?

This is Alex (been in Tokyo since '06, SRK since '01) and I’m one of the organizers for Tokyo Indie Fest 2015 (http://www.tokyoindiefest.com). We’ve just gotten boost in PR and we’re now expecting around 3,000 guests so I’m currently seeking extra volunteers interested in getting a foot in the door of the video game industry to join our team as event staff.
Event Summary:
- TIF the first annual indie game conference in Tokyo and will be held this weekend at UDX Akiba Square in Akihabara from May 8-10.
- Gamers get to play 100+ new games and attend industry workshops and panels while indie game developers demo their games and network with investors and publishers.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide guests with directions and event information
- Access control and crowd management
- Ensure a safe and fun environment for all guests
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older
- Friendly and personable
- English or Japanese language ability
Compensation:
- ¥1,000/day for transportation
- Commemorative T-shirt
- Written recommendation
Time commitment is very flexible (e.g. 1 hour on Friday is okay).

Ya I am still here. I mostly play LoL and FFXIV now. Still go to the arcades once a week with my other gamer buddies. I haven’t even turned on my PS3 in a long time…
