Looking forward to heading back at the end of this year and absolutely can’t wait to get some Ramen Jiro into my belly. I had a great chance to explore for the 2 weeks while I was there last time too so I’m relatively familiar with arcade locations.
The only question I really wanted to ask was if there is any budget accommodation around the Shinjuku/Shibuya areas or anywhere in that vicinity. Last time I stayed at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel and found it perfect because it was just so close to everything that I needed, unfortunately this time around I’m not in the financial situation I was in last year so that’s not the best option for the entire month I plan on staying.
I had an offer from a friend saying that I could stay with him but I’d love to have a backup plan in case that doesn’t actually happen.
Regarding arcades… the scene died down a bit. I have seen many arcades that cater to the FGC close shop. But i would say that mikado ( spelling) would be a good bet.
Best to ask ElvenShadow as he actually goes out… i am stuck with 2 kids and a wife
Regarding food, there are lots of little places in shinjuku to eat at. Try checking out foursquare for what prople recommend in the area.
Else, my wife’s famolu runs a place in Hiroo, so if toy are in the area hit me up and we can grub oit on some mom and pop style Japanese/ Chinese food.
I should have around $10000 to $12000AUD, before flights and accommodation but I can’t imagine myself needing it all. Last time I went I survived on way less than that and never found myself struggling for money.
I still have plenty of time to sort it all out, cheers for those recommendations.

Oh yeah of course. I got them super cheap last year from a Jetstar sale so I’m hanging out for another one. If I can’t get them cheap by the beginning of August then I’ll just pay whatever.
That would be great, thank you very much. Are there going to be places that are willing to only take me for a month (17th December - 21st January) and more specifically over the Christmas and New Year period?
Now that I’m done with school I just have to wait till this fall! I found out I’ll be arriving August 21st and leaving December 9th.
My only homework now is to practice a lot of 3s and Japanese this summer O yeahhh.
Also I hope the Guilty Gear port drops for PSN this summer, I want to learn Eddie!

Best place to play AE is still Shinjuku South East exit Taito Station I would assume. I dont really play AE much in arcades these days. Mikado is always a good bet since they have everything mostly. TheGame4ever, you should practice up that GG. Mikado is the best place to play with 11 head to head cabs and all the best players in Kanto play there. As far as Marvel goes, FRB and online is the only place to play I can think of.
For restaurants, what kind of food do you want? Would make it easier to answer.

@Elvenshadow: I’ll try to get back into GG, and as for restaurants I’m up for anything delicious, especially authentic Japanese food. Heard weird reports from my friends who went that restaurants for Japanese food such as sushi smells, I think they just didn’t pick a right one. And if possible no pork please, group I’m going with do not eat pork.
I went to taito game station in shinjyukku Monday night. The AE scene is alive and kicking there. Daigo even showed up later that night and there were some really good people out there. All the cabs were filled and there were people waiting to play. Just wanna throw that out there.
That sucks that frb is may 19th. I’m gonna be headed back to the states may 17th. I would have loved to play some people in marvel… I did get some matches with proud disciple though. Supposed to be getting up with two other guys at some point hopefully on base as well.
