James Avery (Uncle Phil) has passed away at 65

It’s a double-edged sword really. Reginald VelJohnson (aka Carl Winslow aka THE black cop in the '08s/'90s) and James Avery made their careers being typecasted as rotund men, and likely wouldn’t have had the success they did otherwise.

On other hand, your health is paramount. Ideally, if every actor was svelte and healthy it wouldn’t really reflect the real world in which fat people do exist (unless it’s a movie in Denmark or something).

Horrible news. Sad to see him go at that age. Wish he could have stayed with us longer.

I’ll have to look in my old srk avatar folder to see if I can find that Uncle Phil K Groove avatar.

Nnoooooooooooo!!! I’ve been away from internet and news sources for the past 3 days.

R.I.P. Uncle Shredder.

i remember reading that this particular scene was longer than intended. will smith improvised much of it, drawing from his own issues he had with his father. the hug wasn’t in the script either, that was all james avery RIP

Late, but R.I.P. James. May you show them the right way in Heaven.

-Starhammer-

Jesus, you cretin!! :crybaby:

the character of Shredder is forever ruined for me now

I only found out he was shredder when I watched an old tmnt episode eight months ago. I knew it was him the moment I heard shredder speak. Shredder is Uncle phil on angry mode.

;( R.I.P. Uncle Phil

The most top tier evil laugh in the entertainment business. I will miss you Uncle Phil.

Will did not have issues with his father…

So saddened…

That man knew how to play a goddamn uncle if anyone. So many memories

I don’t recall him inappropriately touching his nieces and nephews, so I’m going to have to disagree.

wasnt one of the main themes of the show was him showing will the joy of manly sex?

his last words were: “Shut up Carlton.”
