can someone break down the options for comboing into normal and ex Zonk? is it charge dependent?
level 1 zonk and ex can be comboed of c.mp
level 2 and 3 of s./c.hp
tbh i never tried cl.mp O_O
btw comboed “of” or “from”? which is right?
my brain usually thinks “cancel/combo into” or “land after”… but i think “comboed off” works :razzy:

never really bothered to test it, but good to know. didn’t thought the charge time would be enough.
also it seems it is a level 1 zonk, means that it does the same damage as mk ruffian.
It could be lvl 3, just be holding all 3p, MP+HP for EX, fadc and use LP
first post in Cody discussion, but I have been using cr. lp x 3, cr. lk, CU for cross-up combos and block-strings. I find a lot of players get thrown off by the cr. lk during block-string and would result in a hit confirm CU. Also, since cr. lk has a pretty decent recovery compared to cr. mp, i’d just not continue the lp CU and jump into my opponent to continue the pressure.
^once you’ll face opponents that know the cody matchup you’ll get reversaled after c.lp. on block c.lp, c.lk doesnt “combo”.

I have been attempting to buffer option select a c.lk into a mk RK just outside poking range, so if the c.lk hits the RK should come out as per here:

It seems the RK comes out even after the whiffed c.lk. Does this mean I am buffering too slow?
Is there a better buffer poke combination to use? (either different normal or different special?)

You’re buffering too slow. I buffer c. lk into MK RK a lot for Balrog to counter some of his punches, even though it can be better to just block.
Pretty much what I figured. Any other buffers you use (other than the u2?) Like c.mp into mk.rk?
Not really, the main buffer I use is c. lk into mk RK. I’m a terrible cody though, so others can tell you other things.
It’s pretty obvious and by no means something special but I didn’t saw it anywhere noted:
Ex Zonk, U2 - work everywhere on the screen. ofc only the dust part hits. playin ex zonk u2 does 274. so the dust does 114 for this one. nice to know to end a match.
also not full connect LP CU => u2 works also anywhere on the screen. (e.g c.lp, c.lp, c.mp xx lp cu)
edit: ^pulled this one out today at a tourney to end a match, the bystanders were kinda amazed xD

hey, so in the corner, you can do s.fp > cr.mp xx rh.RK > forward/rh RK
but it only works on certain characters, like ryu and guy.
does anyone have a complete list of who this works on? I can do it, but if someone already compiled
this list I don’t wanna waste time
Geez man, I’ve been playing Cody for like 2 weeks at the most and I knew this. I have yet to see a character that it didn’t work on.
tried it twice in one match on a ken player, failed, might be an execution problem, but i’m thinking no
