I agree with what yore saying. Chun I would say is a semi poor example because she has a lot of +1 Shininigans off of blocked legs and fireballs.
Personally for my style, I don’t like offenseive play… I like making opponent hang themselves (this is probably why I am yet to settle on a team)
I understand your approach and I like it. Jack is fortunate to have synergy with almost the entire cast (I would say that he does) so I think the backup character can be specific to how you play.
I’m a defensive guy so I think Chun x Jack is my route while a Kazuya user would probably droll over jacks combo potential
I think this is probably the most important point to take away from the discussion. Jack brings a lot to a team, so for those of you asking for the “best” Jack teams, take a character you know and/or enjoy, pair them with Jack, and see what you can come up with.
Yes because I use Jack as a combo extender for my streetfighter characters that don’t do a lot of damage by themselves (Guile, Rolento, Blanka)
So I’m launching as a madman, and all my gems are equipped that one party launches and jack gets out asap
It’s more that some characters can abuse him better than others. Some characters are also extremely fortunate that they actually make Jack better…
Important thing to remember: You need to be really confident in your zoning/keep out in order to play jack on Point. I’m still in the learning stages of this with him, and I feel a lot of us will be for a while. Jack on point is taking the hard road in learning the character.
Agreed on this, he takes a lot of getting used to as a point character. That being said, he’s certainly viable and scary on point once you get uesd to him.
He has some bad match ups on point, mainly on the tekken side.
With this being said, however, once jack gets going he’s almost impossible to stop. On point he can just play against characters and make the opposing character feel like they are completely powerless.
Ill make a matchup chart soon. I think I have him figured out to a point where I can figure out ratios
Running Jack x Ogre. I usually put Jack on point but sometimes change the order depending on the matchup. Recently I got blown up by a local player with his Julia x Ibuki. I realized my problem was mainly the matchup. Ibuki was just too fast, her dash fucked up my inputs and Jack’s normals are too slow. Also had trouble AA her because of her high jump arc and her kunai altering her trajectory.
After some analysis and thinking about the matchup I decided to put Jack on point to fight his Julia and Ogre as anchor to take on his Ibuki. Jack can match Julia in zoning as long as you stay out of her c.mk range and Ogre can overwhelm Ibuki with his mixups and frame traps. After applying my new strategy I whooped him 10-3.
My Elena/Jack team seems pretty good so far. It’s pretty satisfying to end a match in 2-3 combos.
With the upcoming patch, I’ve been debating switching Elena’s partner to Julia, but I don’t like turning my back on Jack. How well does Jack Synergize with the likes of Vega, Cammy, or Law? That said, I might stick with Elena/Jack anyway, but just wanted to get input on potential post-patch teams
Jack is a good all rounder character, he can be partnered mostly by anyone, but i prefer the ones u partner with Jack that can take advantage of his mid/far range Seismo/Surprise Attack (tag cancel) to combo or mixups (overhead, frametrap, crossup, command grab, etc)
Dunno if any of you fine folk still peruse these forums, but I’d like to add that Jack/King is ridiculous.
Jack X zones so hard and is so frustrating to people, and when they finally crack and you land one of Jacks braindead chains into launch King just throws out damage like nobody’s business. After his hard knockdown from his ground to air tackle, you can set up safe jumps and high/low that leads to another 500 damage combo. Jack and King’s combos juggle into each other and every hit does at least 100 damage, it’s nuts.
Also one of the absolute best parts about the team is that when your opponent raw tags you can surprise attack->tag->knee->tackle for somewhere around 400, maybe 500 if you tag jack back in instead. Point of it is, that tagging a confirmed surprise attack is almost OP because you get a full combo with any character at any range on screen.
