Dunno where to post this, but it’s related to Frank, so I’ll just post it here.
Requirements:
Frank at Level 4-5.
Phoenix Wright in investigation mode with (I believe) 2 pieces of real evidence and one fake evidence.
Basically, I found this on accident while playing with a friend, and what happened was he activated the Maya super, and at the same time, I activated Survival Techniques. What happened was, Frank ignored Maya, and hit wright, however, during the cinematic, Frank was slowly being pushed away from wright, and wright was being hit by midair(nothing), at the end of the cinematic, Wright wasn’t on screen at all, until I dashed to the end of the stage and Wright just kind of dashed in. I have no recording of this, but it shouldn’t be too hard to replicate.
Gonna see if I can’t recreate it real fast, def something that needs to be seen and/or fixed. Around where I play neither of those characters are exactly rare.
Ok so, tested it out. Doesn’t matter how much evidence he has, haven’t tested level 2-3 frank though. But yeah it’s weird, Wright still gets hit by everything but he’s just not in the animation properly. I really don’t see it being any kind of problem, though. Just… kinda funky.
Also, tested it with non-super Maya moves and none of them cause any strange results.
Neat, I wonder if this can be applied with other characters with similar supers(Like Tron’s King Servbot super) or during team hyper combos (Imagine a Ryu/Spencer THC, Frank hits ryu and spencer pushes him all the way to the other side of the screen). Also I find it funny that Maya acts more like a wall when she’s just standing there/moving during that super, since I’m almost 100% the reason Frank moves is because Maya is still going and is pushing him away from Wright.
I’ve actually had a situation similar to that and it didn’t do anything. It was a Spencer/Modok THC, how ever spencer was the active character and thus the one being hit. But nothing strange happened, maybe if the beam hyper were first? Something to test out later.
Anyways, how have you guys been faring with Frank? I’ve seen a few online/offline and I really don’t like the way they’ve been playing. I’ve got shit from some people for playing “frank with two assists to get him to level 5” but I honestly don’t like calling assists with frank unless I have Roll. IMO he has no real way to cover his assists and, as frank, I’ve def HB’d some other franks that were too assist happy. And personally I don’t like assists that push people away. I was able to get top 8 using Frank but there are just some match ups that are really difficult. How ever, because he regens health off of camera shots, I don’t feel like keep away is hopeless for him. If anything, it really just means it’s a matter of time before you get in, get some health back and get level 5. Even with a pixel of health, don’t count him out.
Took a drink of alcohol, did a combo, snapshot + hyper xx dhc into gimlet. Blah blah Hawkeye dies and Frank comes in but stands in mid air to puke. Then I was walking in mid air until I got smacked down… Then I couldnt attack. Couldn’t xfactor or anything.
I could hard tag and attack with the other character, but not Frank.
I don’t think so. There are more practical, less riskier ways. I really see it as Frank’s most useless move. Tons of Level 5 drink setups can easily be modified to use something else instead and still work perfectly fine.
A lot of people have been telling me that it was OBVIOUSLY an over sight by Capcom. There is no way that they meant for level 5 frank off of one combo, not with how obviously good he is.
I agree with them, but at the same time I really hope we don’t get a silent nerf that takes it away. I really enjoy playing frank and getting the high reward for the high risk of needing first hit and not losing Frank really fast.
It would take ridiculously long to get to Lvl5 if the experience points didn’t stack, even with assists, you’d likely have to do assist combos 3 times to get to Lvl5, so I don’t think that was an over sight… if it was, then I’d guess the amount of experience to level up would be lower.
I’m pretty sure most of you knew about this, but Frank can get a pretty easy instant kill on Phoenix into Dark Phoenix. Just end a combo with the shopping cart hyper, when she’s transforming, X-factor cancel into Servbot head. The timing isn’t too bad either, you just have to get used to it. You also have to be level 3.
Ok so, just found something out on accident and have been using it fairly consistently as well. Basically, at level 4+ Frank dominates incoming opponents. They can’t push a button or they get chainsawed into full combo. So what you do is, jump up B, B and then delay a bit and hit C. If you time it right they’ll hit the ground right as the last hit of a.B hits and the a.C will hit them, counting as an over head. Since most people hold down when they hit the ground it’s pretty difficult to see.
Only way that someone has countered it so far was by grabbing me, but I quickly started pushing forward along with C so that if they do go for it I get a tech. I’m messing around with it ‘in the lab’ right now and I figure that I can adjust it even more to where I can just do C into down C earlier so that not only do I not get thrown, but either air C hits them or they get hit by the dive kick. Which gives me full combo as well.
Just something else to consider. It’s really scary for anyone coming in against frank. You literally can not push buttons.

and some more ideas in the description.
Edit:** Posting here and in the other thread, so there IS one way to get out of it and that is to push block, the 2nd paddle will only it about once and you can NOT combo after that. However you can kinda bait that out, if you see them pushblocking every time, just delay it slightly and catch them backdashing. So really, it just adds more to the mind game if anything.**
I’ve been running Frank/Dante (BEST FRIENDS!) and Doom, this team has given me a lot of success with player matches against good people, haven’t really ventured into ranked yet but this team has some sick synergy! If Frank does his Survival Tech super, Dante can DHC Devil Trigger in and Hammer them back down an continue with a combo, Doom on the other hand (Thanks to the missiles) covers my approach and can get me to level 2-3 with OTG combo goodness much like Dante.
On the other side of the equation, Frank can DHC with his supers from Million Dollars and THE FINGER LAZERS!
And something I stumbled upon for everyone, if you land the Toy Crusher super (Easy Reset is Easy), you can DHC into Dante for extended combos, go right into his or possibly Dooms level three (Have to test Dooms again before its final), or Dooms upward Plasma Shot super! I am hoping that I can help some of you guys with this but eh, just stuff that I have been working on.
