I've covered wars y'know - Frank West thread

if Chris flamethrower was a assist with Frank that would be so good lol

Most, if not all of his throws, can be followed up by a camera shot into super, but that is about it. I think there might be one throw of his that just doesn’t keep them on the floor long enough, even for the camera.

Also, side note, don’t bother trying to overhead with fireball+H. It’s better to quickly jump and down+H as the kneedrop is an overhead that causes a hard knockdown, a refreshing fact compared to wolverine’s divekick. You can follow the kneedrop up with a roll if you want to make it safe against a block, or utilize the fireball+H quickly enough at PPLvL.3 and up to otg into a self started combo.

Oh? Knee drop is an overhead? Now that’s interesting.

One thing I haven’t seen anyone talk about, is it possible to combo after the wallbounce on his shopping cart hyper? I’m also curious if it does a soft or hard knockdown if you already used up your 1 wallbounce in the combo before using the hyper.

Here it seems to do a hard knockdown, but not a very long lasting one. You MAY be able to take a picture afterwards.

Sadly, his shopping cart hyper is a soft knockdown in all regards. If you want a photo, you’ll have to burn an x-factor.

I was mistaken.

Not sure how I missed that.

Hey. Also here, Frank’s purple alternate makes his zombies purple.
That is amazing.

Does anyone knows if you can combo out of Wolverine’s Swiss Cheese without X-Factor? Does he have it as an assist?

That move looks godly to get Frank to level up. It does nearly 50 hits all by itself, if you can get Frank to hit his camera afterwards by doing TACs or DHCing then you’ve got an easy level 4.

You can combo after it, I just don’t know how practical the TAC idea is. I guess it could work out, if they’re as impossible to counter as in Vanilla.

I honestly think that while that sounds great, Frank won’t do so well without two good assists for him (Like MODOK), and Wolverine’s assists are crap, so it may not be the best idea.

Sporadic thought that just came to me which I cannot test without the game on hand at the moment, but need to throw out there anyhow to get some feedback.

<speculation>

Now I know DHC glitch does not reset hitstun, but it does still cause the opponent to twirl back up into the air like before. If it’s still a hard knockdown, all the easier to follow up with a camera.shot.
At PPLvL.1 his shopping card hyper hits too high to start this, but it could work off the half.circle.back+AA hyper so long as it was timed right or with the right man leading it off ( Spencer’s hyper comes to mind, DHC after the uppercut but before they’re pulled back down ). At PPLvL.3 his anti-air super would be even better as you can’t combo into it, so no risks of accidently connecting as with the other hyper.

It would be a more surefire way to get a level or two without relying on TAC. I’m sure a man like Dante can still rack up an impressive combo before initiating his dhc glitch starter, though as low to the ground as they would be, you would probably have to rely on anti-air super, making PPLvL.3 a must, but hey, if it works, PPLvL.4 and a good chunk towards level 5. Hell, if it does cause hard knockdown, assist the camera.shot with a wall or ground bounce assist, or a multi-hitter like dormmamu’s blackhole and just take a second picture. PPLvL.5?

What a time to realize I never bothered to learn Dante. :frowning:

</speculation>

I think that Vergil might be a good replacement for Dante. Doesn’t Air Maximum Vergil cause a knockdown so he doesn’t get punished during his bad boy pose? Not to mention it does a lot of hits and is mashable.

Do a big combo, finish with Air Maximum Vergil, whiff Frank’s DHC Weapon F - couldn’t resist it - then camera shot - and who knows, might even be possible to combo afterwards.

I’m kind of looking at Vergil/Frank/Doom right now.

If you were to hard tag in after stalking flare, would you have time for 1 or 2 snaps?

I think that Frank/Skrull/Nova will work! Tenderizer looks great for extending combos after a camera shot.

Has anybody seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pGRG5wPWsIs#t=64s

When Firebrand hits both Frank and Rocket Raccoon, Firebrand does his “bon voyage” move on Frank, Rocket goes out, and then the hit counts reset… they better fix this thing.

Yeah, I posted that in the Ultimate thread before, it’s odd. But I don’t think it should work in the first place.

Swiss cheese > berserker charge > combo into TAC into Frank > combo camera???

Ugh, all these people talking about using cold star… I hate ammy, but you’re all right: cold star is amazing, synergy-wise, for frankie. I would love to use a character I know more (doom/dorm) but… ugh, cold star… decisions decisions.

That could work, specially if you continue the combo after the Berseker Charge.

It’s gimmicky, you could get countered at the TAC but it’s still a very easy way to get to Level 4~5 fast.

I was thinking that Tenderizer might be too high (it’s the AA version for assist right?) to get be practical with frank, but if it does work I’ll definitely be rolling with those two on a team.

Quick question: Can Frank follow up into camera after the kneedrop? And what level does Frank need to be to get the kneedrop?

Funny. When I was playing Off The Record recently, I was doing his knee-drop as close to the ground as possible as a quick fatal attack against small groups of zombies. “Check it out, I’m discovering advanced techs for Frank in UMvC3; Tiger Knee’d Knees!”, I was shouting to myself, pleased with my jackassery.

I did not think it might have a practical use in UMvC3. Thanks for letting us know it can be done fairly low in the air, it sounds interesting!

Edit, responding to Defilus: Oh, it’s not so bad. Amaterasu is a fun, deep character who requires learning multiple move-sets to use well but rewards you with having very few truly bad match-ups as a result. Plus she looks awesome, and is a benevolent sun goddess… which means you can list her in your religion field when answering polls, census forms, etc.; just write down “Amaterasu (Cold Star assist)” for hours of confusing someone out there you’ve never met and don’t care about.

Frank/?/Amaterasu is my team-in-progress for good reason, one you’ve already seen. The question is what I need out of slot 2’s assist; a low hit? A high hit? A bounce-causing attack so I have plenty of time to get the camera out? A beam or full-screen projectile (examples, Plasma Beam and Gun Fire)? So many choices, and I am not immediately sure which Frank needs most.

Edit 2, elaborating on above: So far, I am leaning toward a projectile/beam assist because I suspect Frank needs more help getting in than he does starting his game-plan once up close. I would welcome thoughts on this, however!
