Same here, you need registry tricks to remove Adobe and Java completely (or just reinstall the OS). Most software that had its 1st edition a decade or two ago is loaded with tons of legacy code and tends to run like shit.
Edit: OpenOffice vs MS Office is like Gimp vs Photoshop. It’s more lightweight, but feature-wise it’s constantly playing follow-the leader with its industry-standard rival. But it’s free so why not use it at home.
How about the change from iTunes 10 to 11 where they made iTunes totally hang whenever you tried to add video to your library? I had to wait like 30 minutes on my laptop before videos would even show up. Or how everything gets put into “home video” for some reason?
Why would I care? That one guy applauding every time the Windows Media Player controls showed up at Evo? That was me: I worked on that team for years and I’m glad for what it does well and sad for what it doesn’t well. I’ve also helped other player teams at other companies because I want to make things better.
If you guys want to grouse that iTunes is bad, I can’t help you. If you guys have specific and exact concerns (“performance importing my video library sucks” isn’t a narrow bug), I can maybe help with that. I’ve helped a small legion of specific problems get fixed in various players over the years, and thought I’d tentatively extend a potentially helpful ear here. But if your problem is just “Fuck that nasty shit”… that’s not asking a small favor from a friend, that’s asking for a rewrite and outside the bounds of what most reasonable developers ask of each other. This is just me trying to turn a conversation productive, as usual. =]
itunes was good during the mp3 player boom. for those with smartphones i’d reccomend setting up a rhapsody or spotify app. i’ve been using rhapsody for years no prob
There are a couple of ipod compatible flac players. I have no issue with itunes whenever I use it. But I never update and don’t allow the whole thing to sync.
If somebody can direct me to a better portable music player than a 160gb classic please do. Because afaik nobody is touching it. And ipod is the only apple product I have and most likely ever will get.
