It's iD Software's DOOM 20th Anniversary!

Doom is still one of my favourite games, and probably my favourite FPS, just for the level design alone. Levels went in all directions, and they were all shapes and sizes. I own the “Tricks of the Doom Gurus” book that was basically required reading if you wanted to make your own levels. I think I still have my old levels on a floppy disk somewhere.

Love Doom 1 and 2 and 3 was underrated, but I wouldn’t say it’s one of my favorite FPS’s. Also I need free look mod, can’t play any FPS without it ever since I first played Descent as a kid.

This thread needs more rippage!!!

Ill just say that Final Doom: Plutonia is probably the best official doom release and my favorite game of all time.

Theres a really cool doom wad whos name I forgot, but its basically doom focused on smaller levels and more tricks. If anyone knows what im talking about post the name.

Scythe ?

the first PC game i ever got was Doom on my old old system.

it was super RAD.

Wow, that’s impressive ink. I’ve seen some bad ass tattoos but this one is definitely up there.

God, I don’t know if there’s been a game series I’ve played as much as Doom. AS a kid, I would visit my uncle’s house and he would let me play D2 for hours. He even had an editor that I used to make custom maps. Then I got Doom for SNES, then 3DO, then Doom 64(probably my favorite doom to date). Doom 3 was cool, despite being slowed down. The online for it was a throwback to old Doom, with it’s break-neck speeds and whatnot. Then I got into Zdaemon for a while, which I whole-heartedly recommend to anyone who wants classic Doom with modern features,16 player CTF, and 4 player co-op.

I’m a huge Doom fan.

I still have my DOOM3 BFG Edition on my 360. Might pick one of these games at random to run through. I dont think I finished that exclusive expansion though, Ill have to make sure.

Commander Keen is the ID Software game that made me a fan of their games, but I’m glad they’re getting recognition for all their great games.

I got introduced at a friend’s house. His dad had it on his PC. I played through the first episode and got to E1M8. And then I got introduced to the barons that proceeded to make me shoot rockets in a panic until they killed me.

Then I just sat there in my now shit-filled pants and all I could do was stare at the screen because I had no idea what the fuck just happened.

I remember doom frag fests after school. So much fun!

I like all iD software games. I think Return to Castle Wolfenstein is one of their better games, the atmosphere is dark and gritty and almost Quake-esque in a WWII setting.

Raven handling the recent Wolfenstein AND Quake game brought me sadness.

You say this like I didn’t add my own unique twist on things+content that thread never had.

Plus, do you honestly think I didn’t know about all of this DOOM-related stuff before now?

Here are my top 5 favorite DOOM 1 & 2 tracks:

Kitchen Ace (and taking names):

Hiding the Secrets:

Between Levels:

Into Sandy’s City:(personal top 3, it’s too good.)

Bye Bye Ameircan Pie

@Sonicabid You didn’t mention the Doom Comic so you automatically failed.

If you knew my feelings towards comic books and anime in general, you’d probably know why that’s excluded.

Spoiler

I don’t like two things 99.9% of SRK does.

For those who haven’t checked it out, Masters of Doom is a really good book.

Basically the rise and fall of the Carmack and Ramon. Reading it also shows some “truth” behind as to why Daikatana was so bad.

I loved the atmosphere in Doom. Occult symbols etched on tapestries of human skin and necroflesh designs straight out of HR Giger’s nightmares.

Yeah, I would decorate my walls with this:
