Digging’ the thread title. The creativity couldn’t be more accurate.
Well maybe it could if the thread could cut to commercial during the announcement of the first name. [/win]
Shit nigga stop breaking SRK
I remember the dogpound killing me in that.
I ain’t even gonna lie. As much as I wanted to like this show it’s been… rough so far. Granted he was never known for his comedy bits, but doing a Carrot Top bit? … come on. At lest he admitted it, but still. He needs to hire better writers immediately.
Still though Arsenio was always more about his guests and music guests.
So, for anyone who caught the premiere, how was it?
To give a quick review:
It wasn’t great, but it was familiar. The format and even the set layout picked up where it did from 19 years ago. Arsenio was never known for his comedy skits, and only kinda sorta for his standup. The best jokes in his monologue are when he’s taking a shot at someone or saying something not so PC because he seems to feel ok saying things that other late night talk show hosts don’t. The “meat” of Arsenio’s Shows have always been his guests and his ability to connect with them, and that was the best part of this show as well. His guests were Chris Tucker, Snoop, and Snoop performed twice. Overall it wasn’t very satisfying as a welcome back episode, but he has been out of the business for 19 years. As much as I’d have liked to have seen a better production given his time away from TV it’s probably unreasonable to expect that. It showed some promise, but it wasn’t enough to wow me.
I agree with what Hotobu said, the show seemed awkward and lame at times but the interviews were good. Arsenio was noticeably nervous in the first half but after the half hour mark Arsenio seemed to finally get comfortable. Snoops performances were pretty dope, I would be remiss to leave that part out.
So far tonight is MUCH better. As I said before his best jokes are when he’s talking shit about people. The Lamar Odom and Miley Cyrus/Lance Armstrong jokes were pretty damn good.
So it seems that the ratings were good for the premiere.
Also, Slate put together a bunch of what they think were his best interviews.
he’s probably at a cheese tasting party
I watched it last night and it was pretty meh. None of his jokes were any good imo except for the Cheryl Crow thing. I’ll be surprised if it lasts more than one season.
