Hello. New here, so I’ll just get right to the point.
I’m relatively new to the fight stick aspect of fighting games, so I know absolutely nothing about how to go about repairing things. My question involves the ball top on my stick. It keeps coming loose (unscrewed). It started doing this a couple months ago, but for the most part, it was fine. However, lately its become a real hindrance on my gameplay, coming unscrewed every other hadoken input. I’m just asking around for recommendations on what I should use to fix it. A glue or something of the sort. Another source I went to recommended blue loctite, but I thought I’d search for some second opinions. So any advice, I’d appreciate. Please help this newbie out!
Even after screwing in the balltop, it’s still loose? Are you using a Sanwa or Seimitsu joystick with a Sanwa or Seimitsu balltop? And I mean, are they both authentic arcade parts, not asking if you’re using a Seimitsu balltop with a Sanwa joystick, as the two are compatible.
If you don’t know what the brand of your joystick is, then what is the actual Arcade Stick it came with? I’m assuming it’s unmodded, that can tell us the joystick used.
The only reason I ask is because if you’re using a different joystick or balltop, they might not hold together as well as authentic arcade parts will. Generally, this isn’t the case, but some sticks are much worse than others.
Also, if you aren’t opening the stick to tighten the balltop, that could also be your problem. You need to open it, and use a flathead screwdriver on the bottom of the shaft to hold in place and hold the balltop in your hand and twist the two to tighten.
Yes, blue loctite will work at holding it in place, but it is rather semi-permanent, so choose wisely.
This isn’t the model stick you probability using but the basics are the same.
See that slot on the bottom on the shaft (metal rod part of the joystick). That is where you want to put a flat head screw driver to as you twist the ball top back on as tightly as you can.
A good solid Twist of a flat head screw driver as you hold the Ball top still is usually good enough to secure the ball top in place.
Once you have it good and tight you would not need to Locktite as Nerrage said Locktite is a Semi-permanent solution.
I have the Blazblue TE stick. Love it to death.

I tried to unscrew it the other day after watching a youtube video about a similar issue, but I couldn’t get the screws out. Lodged in there something fierce. I’ll have to give it another go.
But yes, even after screwing the ball back on, it comes undone after a couple hadoken inputs.
Thanks for the advice too! I didn’t want to have to glue the thing…
Just wanna say that I got the thing opened and fixed it. Thanks again guys!
