Is TvC too masher friendly?

umm… i think this proves dude’s point

Online TvC is NOT TvC. Just throwing that out there.

Lol no game is the same online

I dunno, GGPO with <50 ping is pretty damn close

I’ve tried online for a good few hours and not happy, im gonna stop while im ahead, maybe try to find some local TvC, but where can someone find TvC games in Chicago? Everyone here just like sports games.

dude chicago’s a big city, I guarantee you can find people to play with. Just check the SRK regional boards. Chicago’s also where Midwest Championships are being held at the beginning of May, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding people who wanna train up.

I’m having similar frustrations, but in my case it’s that I can’t get a damn move out edgewise. Part of this is that I’m playing Frank West and every single move he has takes forever to start, but I really want to play him. Unfortunately, my opponents just pin me down the second the match starts and I can never get anything going. Once they get block strings started, I’m screwed; yeah, I can keep blocking, but everything I have seems too slow to punish so it’s basically “block until I lose.”

This is really hurting my enjoyment of the game, and I don’t know how to get past it. Admittedly I can only play online; nobody locally (very small area) plays fighting games. So I have to put up with bits of lag, Zero wiimote spammers, etc.

you pushbock > 2A > (other player says: oh crap frank hit me!) > inf

try looking for friend code matches, theres some live chat in the TvC section of the Capcom Unity boards where a lot of decent players go to swap codes and play.

From offline experience this game isn’t masher friendly at all. My mashing friends were doing okay, but the moment I picked a team I knew a BnB for shit ended right there. Many of the BnB combos are quite easy, though and don’t seem that intimidating.

Against random people online they will inevitably do a random super, just block everything until then and punish for free.

round house kick continuously and trip them, once they fall, if they don’t know how to block low, they’ll never get up.

i live about an hour out of chicago and i play this game every day.

Dude. I feel your pain. I’m in that stage that other people are talking about where I’m trying not to mash & be scrubby, so I’ve gotten slightly worse, and I have the same problem as you. Only thing is, I play as Alex. Alex has a fast 2A, but it has virtually zero priority. It loses out jab-to-jab 100% of the time. I can’t do anything with him. Except for stupid wake-up Hyper Bombs. -_-

Like someone else said, pushblock and attack with Frank. Except use his standing B. That thing has massive, deceiving range.
