I always got confused by Cell explaining how he got to “our” DBZ dimension. He states he killed Trunks after he got back from warning the Z warriors about the androids but then there’s supposedly another alternate universe where Trunks wasn’t killed by cell as he returns to check on the Z warriors?

Well, there’s three different timelines and Cell’s from the oldest since the Trunks of his time had already came back from the past (just to get deaded on by Cell).

The whole Trunks/Android/Cell saga is a clusterfuck, but its way better than the Buu Saga. Buu Saga was the worst and most ridiculous out of them all.

Considering it was Goku’s idea to even reach Dende, I don’t think that even matters. Besides, you don’t think the Androids would notice a spaceship leaving?

I’ll see if I can clear this up a bit.

1st time line Goku: Trunks arrives kills freeza & gives goku meds, +3 yrs piccolo fuse with kami, goku brings dende to earth to replace kami, goku gets crew to train in RoSaT… yada yada yada this is “our” time line

2nd time line Trunks: Goku kills freeza, + 1~2 yrs goku dies of heart disease, +1~2yrs androids kill z-team save Roshi and Gohan, gohan SSJ with pain of loss, +10yrs androids reveal they fight with 1/2 their power to Gohan, Trunks get Gohan killed, Trunks SSJ with pain of loss, bulma make time machine, Trunks time travels twice before killing Androids and Cell.

3rd time line Cell: 2nd time trunks was going to time travel Cell kills him, goes back 2 years before trunks 1st time travel, hiding and hilarity ensues.

however… in 2nd timeline Trunks meets Cell after killing the androids and is aware of Cell… here he returned from the 2nd time travel.

RoSaT and Dende are only a factor if Goku is still alive when androids arrive.

I never understood why Trunks needed a time machine. He could have easily strapped only the Flux Capaciter to his chest, fly at 88 miles an hour and then generate 1.21 gigawatts of electricity.

He probably knew of Dende’s presence when he put his hand on Krillin’s head to do the memory absorption bit when he first landed on Namek (did they even try to explain how the fuck Goku learned that?). However, he met Dende’s charred corpse in person later on…
