Redone DBZ with far improved animation and sticking more closely to the manga. That means about only 100 eps instead of 290+.

At this point, we don’t even know if this is gonna make it outside of Japan. However, given that DBZ is a HUGE cash cow, I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.

They are in wide screen format, which has led to a lot of fan complaints, but the picture quality is awesome. Also, you get the option to watch the show in dub with the Japanese music, or in sub with the American music.
The remastered DBZ is worth it. I’ve only paid between 20 to 30 bucks per season.

At first I was totally sold on the season reissues, but based on some research, they’ve been pretty significantly “cropped”. Watching some previews, it doesn’t seem all that bad, but I understand how some purists would take it more seriously. I still think it’s a great deal, but the ratio debacle is still something I wish could have been helped. Let me just say that the picture and sound quality is stunning. The option to switch between music (and languages?) is a great addition, too.
I think it would be more fun to hunt down the original run DVDs, the ones that have like only a small set per release. A stupid move in terms of money, yes, but I think I’d get a kick out of having them.
yeah I saw the “Akira Toriyama’s original cut” and figured they were shaving off all the filler episodes and probably condensing the battles.
I’m looking forward to this, plus I never got the season box sets so when/if Kai comes to america I will get those instead. Still, if they can widescreen it and then add stuff to the sides why not just fucking keep it fullscreen and fix the edges if they look ugly!?
