Is there a Dragon Ball Z thread? If not

I’m hoping this will be great, seeing Vegeta and Kaioken x2 Goku going at it in HD will be so cool!!!:bgrin:

Yeah, Hirotaka Suzuki was also the VA for Bright Noa from Gundam and Tatewaki Kuno from Ranma 1/2.

RIP

As well as the fans.

-I wasted money on the VHS (3-4 eps per TAPE)
-I wasted money on Japanese bootlegs of Z and GT
-I almost thought about getting the non-remastered DBZ box sets
-I wasted money on the first two seasons of the remastered set

When they say Dragon Ball will never die, they mean that with a CAPITALIST AF!!!

why did you do all that when you could just download them?

Exactly. If Funimation manages to release this version (which could go either way since Funimation has their own “remastered” version) how are they gonna justify yet another release yet again?! Maybe if this release is Blu ray exclusive, but again Funimation already has their own version. Even then, what would America be getting? Sure, the new sound effects and visuals, but a lot of America couldn’t give 2 craps about the Japanese version. Plus, I doubt Funimation will go through the trouble of dubbing it yet again. I’ll definitely be importing this should it get a Japan only release.

Some people would rather not steal/pirate everything.

by ‘updated with new technology’…do they mean redrawing everything in the style of that last special? If so I’ll jump on that shit. And if anything Funimation will probably definitely bring it back and play it on Cartoon Network…that is IF that’s what they’re doing.

Dragonball Z minus all the filler, 20 minute staredowns, weird scenery pans, and screaming matches all in HD? Hyped.

With this, new Ippo and Fullmetal, and a myriad of non-anime stuff, 2009 just keeps on delivering.

Maybe non-Saiyans will actually do things.

DBZ filler was never as bad as say, Naruto filler but I hope the reports they’re reducing the episodes from 291 to 100 are true. Means they’re probably going to be following the manga are lot closer. Frieza’s only going to take 10 seconds to power up to 100% and no more Garlic Jr, or Goku gets a drivers license.

first season yet,

I still don’t have the first season yet, now I have to get season 2 as well. The first one is more important to me, as I think that saiyan saga was better…that first Vegeta VA and Zarbon were the best out of the entire show.

I’m curious…did the first season include Radditz? …that wasn’t really a high point for me. Radditz = lame…especially compared to everything else that happened after him.

Get both audio options  or just English Dub:bluu:?

I’m willing to support this, although some fight filler wasn’t all bad :wonder: until the 4th time it was used as stock footage filler.
(cell saga is gonna be hella short now)

DBZ stock footage filler= The DBZ filler that surpasses the DBZ filler that surpasses the normal filler form. I guess you could call it DBZ filler 2.

Naruto flash back filler: This Legendary filler greatly surpasses the normal filler form, and even DBZ filler, but is not a true filler level as it keeps growing over time…

But I wanted to see Street Piccolo with his backwards cap on.

it’s on the cover of one manga, or a chapter, so maybe it’s in there with Goku going domestic on Chi Chi… good times

BLASPHEMY! That was the best filler episode ever!

well DB got its Z once Goku/Piccolo were confirmed as alien… :bluu: guess the saga’s name

if radditz was better than anything after him, it would kinda hurt the series that he died so fast… he might get 2 episodes (at most) in this compact 100 ep release.

failed ninja edit: if GT is not in the 100 ep, Zarbon is dead atleast 20 ep in.

‘That’s right…we can now GROW RADITZES!’

I suppose. I’d also add that the addition of the Z represents the division between Goku’s childhood and adult years. It’s also the point where the series most obviously transitions between a comic martial arts fantasy to a more action-oriented sci-fi story. It’s a pretty big move for the style of the series.

I don’t really see why GT would be included in this, especially since it’s not supposed to exist and such.

I for one am very glad about this, though I’m sure part of that is because outside of the whole power progression thing nonsense, the sheer infamous amount of filler makes DBZ unwatchable for me.

I guess this means be cutting out the various annoyances like the power-up filler, the space travel filler to Namek that took literally half a year and Garlic Jr. entirely. I wonder if they’ll go as far as making Cell and Buu weaker than Freeza, so that it’s more like a re-write like that recent Evangelion revision thing.

(Whatever happened to that anyway?)

The only filler thing that I’d actually miss seeing would also be the driving episode, though maybe we’ll get lucky and they’ll make that like 101 episode or something.

Man, I wish other things that ended up getting screwed over in the end product got this treatment.

looks over at Secret of Mana

Interesting.

Shorter series or not, I hope they don’t skimp on the amount of times Krillen’ head gets kick around and the amount of detail in which it slides on the dirt/concrete.

As it stands, you can make a montage of that alone. Would be nice if we could get some of that in high-def…

It’s pretty horrible how badly Krillen’s been knocked around during Z…Wasn’t he the first person to get socked in Z? And by Raditz’s tail? I think he’s been owned hard at least 25-30 times in the series…among them including the 2 distinct 1 hitter quitter kicks he got booted with by Recoom and Perfect Cell.

Edit:

Oh yeah…even though this isn’t quite related…the latest ep if Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged is up by Lanipator… if interested here’s the link
