Is spamming the Izuna vortez cheap?

while considering the fact that missing the ID could cost u a nice chunk of your life bar coupled with how stupid difficult it is to pull off CONSISTENTLY…
i say that if the vega player is good enough to hit the ID off every wall jump and the opponent is too dumb to be able to react or adjust…i say vega deserves to win…

Dude. There is no such thing as cheap.

Its a good tool and if you’re feeling guilty about using it your sense of “fighting game honor” is only going to hold you back.

The only thing I find cheap is overly damaging moves, unescapable loops, and infinites. Everything else that can be dodged or handled is just a skill that needs to be learned. Eg: Vaniilla Gief’s crazy tick throws with pile driver is not cheap but scary. Sagat’s 170 damage TU and potential trade combo is cheap. Chun-li’s infinite on Dhalsim is cheap. Dictator’s lock on corners is not cheap.

Hell no it ain’t cheap. It’s difficult to hit the I Drop consistantly while your opponent is on the ground regardless. You do what you have to to win. I’d be suprised if I didn’t see a Vega in EVO this year using this tactic.

the vortex is godly and make vega a ninja without it he has no mix up game

All’s fair in love, war, and Street Fighter.

No…But its like taking the beef out of the beef noodles. Still lots to eat but its trademark is gone.

Have to agree with him, this is a fighting game, you do what it takes to win.

Also to Ruglitarian, don’t you think S-Tier for Sexy would be cooler than B-tier for Beautiful? =P

I love catching people in the izuna trap…it seems like it’s easier to do than in SFIV, so i’ve managed to catch people in the loop with many problems…then again i’ve gotten a lot better with vega since then…landing these give me a very deep sense of satisfaction, almost like when u AA someone with an SB or a TU zoning with a good poke like guile’s standing fierce

Can somebody explain the loop to me? Been caught in it a couple times and its a bitch to get out of without a good reversal, but I’ve never been able to do it actually do it consistently.

All I know is,

T.Hawk weeps everytime you izuna him.

Is kicking ass cheap?

“Twistmatic”, an Abel player called me a cheesy bitch today after a game where I almost made a full comeback after getting him knocked down in the corner. I messaged him back that he doesn’t have to play me but that situation is GOING to come up when it counts. He soon joined my ranked room again, and he was SO TOTALLY off his game it was hilarious. He rage quit a pixel shy of his embarrassing loss!

Man did I lick my blades after that one.

Trying to win is cheap by most player standarts, i got insulted by a zangief player 2 days because apparently i blocked too much and refused to play the game at point blank where he can command SPD me. if you don’t want to be cheap these days you pratically have to empty walk into whatever they wan’t to throw at you, then they feel all warm inside and get a sense of having single handedly beaten another lame vega f****t.

it is in the game, it was meant to be ab(used) i know i will.

yeah most giefs that I whoop always complain about me running away too much…lol

Recently been playing a sloppy Vega at the arcades. And when I get hard knockdown via kara throw or random EX Walldive. They go for the izuna loop, except its done rather poorly.

But for Zangief when Vega is coming down from you vertically, its rather hard to consistently counter. When I have Ultra 2 stocked, I nail him 100% of the time, hence his “sloppiness”

Just how does one get out if they come down from directly on top. I know I can’t lariat. and his izuna drop rate is quite good, although not timed to be meaty or close to meaty, hence his sloppiness.

I think I may have answered my own question, I could just forward or back dash and take the hit of the swipe, or better EXGH out and take no damage.

Talk about raising the dead…

I alt Gief so I think I can help out a bit. Something to remember is that the Izuna loop is hard to do. You have a 2 frame window to continue the loop. Any delay in getting the charge, the execution of the move, or improper spacing while in the air will cause the claw slash to come out or the move to whiff entirely. In addition, the Izuna drop when looped NEVER puts you in the same spot meaning you have to manually adjust your timing 40+ frames in advance. Backdash, reversal crouch Lariat, and reversal EX GH are your best options. In all honestly, Vega shouldn’t be getting away with Izuna loops on Gief. Not because it’s hard to do, it’s easier on gief than other members of the cast, but because the risk of a missed Izuna Drop can lead to Vega’s life going down REAL fast.

Supposedly EX SPD is good for making it whiff, but I’ve never personally tried it as Gief, nor had it done to me as Vega.

Thanks Vegaman. Yeah, it was the first post that turned up on google about my problem

At first, I was waking up with FA, ready to absorb and dash out or release. But he was consistent in grabbing me. So I didn’t really know what to do, after being dropped 4 times in a row - even though I knew these were scrubby drops and not well timed ones.

But in retrospect, Vega was risking way too much. And if I had waited on wakeup, and back dash correctly, that would allow me to land a big grab. In fact, as the drop was not meaty, could I have crouched the izuna drop, and make Vega whiff? Can Vega’s grab be ducked?

no. Even Sakura can’t duck the Izuna Drop. It has to be low profiled (whiffing a low normal that lowers grab box). Gief can’t get that low though.

If he’s that bad at timing the wall dives… Headbutt is the most fun.

I still find it crazy that some people think izuna is cheap and should be nerfed. You remember that fucking cliffeside guy a dudley player in the capcom unity ultra vega changes thread? Seriuosly out of all those this guy the only one who asked for FBA to be nerfed cuz he plays zeus and gets izuna looped, what a load of horse shit he was saying.
