Is it okay to just stand in neutral in a fight?

yeah sure

i used to believe that you should always be doing something in neutral and tended to go with whatever had the highest chance of working, but that actually makes you very predictable. you can maybe get away with that in some of the older games where X strategy is so oppressively powerful that it doesn’t matter if your opponent sees it coming from a mile away, but nowadays games are pretty balanced and tend to punish predictability.

Yes

It makes your hurtbox smaller

It frees up mental energy

And it has a psychological effect on your opponent

It’s definitely okay. Especially if it’s to further download your opponent’s play style. And people that wanna call it “cheap” and “unfair” are scrubs. If you can do it in a fight, then it was meant to be used. 100% fair. Keits once said “Fairness ends at the character select screen.”

Not that this is a bad post, just kinda think its in the wrong part of the forums. Seems less like a question being asked and more like you are searching for validation of you viewpoint.

Well said.

Not really looking for validation because I will just “do it” anyway, but the underlying intention was more to make other people wary of it, because as MochaLatte said above and in my own particular case, I feel that it alleviates stress from the situation.

I actually do that quite a lot.
Like I am saying: “come on dude, what you got?”

Plus… I am Bison, so… standing or walking does not make much of a difference anyway. snail
