I think there has to be a good pay/reward relation. I appreciate easy gratification at the cost of minor quality loss, but modern games fall way too much towards blatant fanservice.

Fanservice is service to fans. My beef with what we see in fighting games today as “fan service” is the clear neglect to realistic proportions. I am sick of the JPN perception that bigger is better. Not that I am against different body sizes, but they need to follow the basics of human anatomy. To have characters that cosplayers could actually look like rather than try to mimic would be better “fan service”.
