It’s something to do with the ‘Quick Reply’, IMO they should just turn it off until the double posting thing is fixed.
But like I said, double post -won’t- be fixed for a long time. Mr. Wizard said as much in another thread, stating that the issues are vBulletin issues and there really won’t be much resolution until a new version is released.

You guys realize when you quick post, you only need to hit post “once”, right? When it takes you to the next screen asking you to press submit again, just refresh the thread, your post is already there…
that’s what I was saying, I always go quick reply and hit it once. So far I’ve yet to D/P by going quick reply or even advance reply.
I don’t delete double posts because it takes nearly a fucking minute to refresh.
Multiple tabs, bro. I always have at least 3 Shoryuken tabs running when I’m in full nerd-out SRK browsing mode to minimize lame board slowdown / loading, especially during peak hours.
Though, the tabs are often hard to find amidst the 30 porn tabs.
One reason for people double posting may be that their double post goes up and another reply comes up before they notice the double. In that case they can’t really delete it, can they?
Of course they can. And deleting a duplicate post takes like a second.
Of course, to avoid double posting in the first place, after you get the error for quick reply just go back to the subforum or refresh and its there, don’t push post reply again. Or just go to “Go Advanced”.
That doesn’t make any sense, since the time it takes to edit a double post takes the same amount of time (if not longer) than to delete it.
Alright, this is how I see double posts happening on my end, because about 99% of my posts I make attempt to double post themselves:
I always use Quick Reply, unless I’m multi-quoting or want to use some smiley I don’t know the annotation of. When I hit Quick Reply, one of two things happens - it either posts instantly, but throws me to the “You must wait 15 secs to post again lol!” page, at which I simply navigate back and refresh to see my post in all its singular glory, OR when I click Quick Reply it sits there, “loading” for over 15 seconds, and when it finally finishes thinking it brings me to the last page of the topic, AS IT NORMALLY SHOULD, but instead of one post there are two.
The problem, I think, is that Quick Reply is double-sending the information because it’s retarded. It’s not anyone clicking Reply a bunch of times, it’s simply the board being wonky. It “posts” the first post, but then has to sit there and think about what it’s doing for a long time. When it finally decides that it’s done thinking, it posts again, you know, because it must not have done that yet. Except it did.
I think the boards have Alzheimer’s.
Why this happens specifically? I dunno lol. It could be a browser thing, a vBulletin thing, an ancient Chinese curse thing, but what I do know is that I always delete my double posts because, seriously, it takes like 5 seconds. And I get the added bonus of not feeling like a douche for leaving all my double posts up.
