Avengers 3D was cheap because it wasn’t shot in 3D. Post processing 3D looks like some Paramount Ride. With that said though I DO like seeing stuff in 3D. But I won’t be seeing this in 3D cause I just don’t feel like paying for it. If the time is the best one, I’ll reconsider, but I’m not planning on it right now.
Nah I think it’s the other way around. Killian and the botanist chick mentioned that AIM got lots of military contracts and stuff for funding, especially when Stark Industries left the weapons market during/after the events of Iron Man 1. Plus they were in cahoots with the vice president too
Mandarin was def just an actor/scapegoat so they could turn the war on terror into a business
Good overall movie, great overall Iron Man movie. Personally since I have not actually read Extremis I was able to accept this “adaptation” a lot easier than most others might. (Y’all know exactly what I’m talking about.) Post credits scene made me chuckle hard. Going to go read Extremis now and most likely thoroughly enjoy it as I’ve heard it’s “THE” Iron Man story.
I still think it leaves it open to homeboy embracing the Mandarin persona and going from their. I mean the 10 rings angle is still open and up in the air to use.
At any rate, watched it again this time for the IMAX 3D midnight showing(mainly to get the poster). Still a damn good movie. A way better 3rd movie than what Dark Knight Rises was. Execution was on point and I still think the Mandarin plot point was still interesting.
Extremis is pretty much the most defining IM story in recent decades, yeah. And IM3 covers most everything it entails - human experiments gone wrong, Maya and Tony, etc.
Face it kids, you’re not going to see Extremis Tony in the movies - it’s too far a technological jump for the masses to maintain their association for the character. Ask most people on the street, and they wouldn’t be able to tell you that Iron Man has actual superpowers nowadays. They just want to see armor and Robert Downey Jr being himself.
[details=Spoiler]I loved having 41 armors flying around beating up bad guys (I’m guessing it’s 41). I can’t wait till someone names them all. Like do we consider the real big one that held up that platform to be like the Hulk Buster?.
I also loved that they didn’t take everything from Extremis and turn Tony into a damn cyborg.
While Mandarin was a ploy by A.I.M. (yes A.I.M.) I too am still holding out hope for him to be faking it. The Mandarin is just too bad ass to leave as a joke.
Was Tony throwing the armor on Pepper Potts and nod to her Rescue armor from the comic books?
I liked how vulnerable Tony was shown with and without the armor.
Nice to see a good balance between all the characters’ screen time from the other Iron Man moves.
The plot could have been a bit heavier especially with Tony’s anxiety/PTSD from Avengers. A shame they went so light hearted with it.

This didn’t need to be spoiler tagged but this had the best Iron Man action out of all three films. So much Iron Man action goodness.
I think it’s 3 days from release. So pretty much Monday.
Alright, just got in. It’s a great movie. It kept me entertained and was paced fairly well (with the exception of the beginning). The plot was fairly thought out and I did enjoy seeing more of the man than the suit.
[details=Spoiler]Here’s what worked for me:
The final boss wasn’t another suit of armor
The writing of all the characters seemed to work well - I will be honest, Cheadle is a much better fit as Rhodes than Howard. The fire breathing line is what did it for me
The use of Pepper - She wasn’t just a pretty face to look at this go
Tony always seemed to be outmatched and had to figure it out. It makes the audience think that he could actually lose
More than a suit of armor - I felt that much more care went into the character developing arc of Tony. I wasn’t always looking for the next CG Porn extravaganza
The logic of Killian- That was a pretty good idea. They had to add the line about plastic surgery for the Mandarin cause we all know that facial recognition software would have snagged his ass.
The Post Avengers Treatment - It wasn’t over bearing and it was a nice touch to connect the movies together
Here’s what I hated:
Lack of AC/DC - Nuff said
War Machine/ Iron Patriot didn’t do shit! - Seriously, that was a worthless redesign usage. He was basically Wedge Antilles
The use of Pepper - While I liked the first scene when she saved Tony, I don’t think that she should have finished off the main baddie. I think she should have somehow weakened him, then Tony calls on the MK42 and levels him. The main hero gets to use what he’s created to destroy his nemesis. It would have completed a much cleaner circle.
While I agree with you about the hero being the one to take out the nemesis I can stomach Pepper snuffing out Killian a whole lot more than Catwoman snuffing out Bane. Pepper took one for the team. She deserved that win.
I think her getting “the win” was just fine too. Tony was running out of suits to use anyway. Which I think was also awesome. The last two movies treated the Iron Man like it is nigh invincible and Extremis Adlrich and his goon squad ran through quite a few of them. I mean yeah the Iron Monger wrecked it hard and Whip Lash got the best of him almost but Tony straight up kept losing armors from the critical hits everyone was landing on his suits. And although Pepper protected Tony in the end (which she does on a daily basis anyway) it was at the cost of her own humanity a bit.
Which brings me to another point. This movie dealt with some issues that could get pretty dark and probably would have been in a comic book but I think the script writers and whoever else is involved with the final say on the tone of the film let it get a little too cheerful. Tony had PTSD not just some damn anxiety attack. AIM exists at all is bad enough and extremis is quite dangerous but wheee fire. Happy being in a coma seemed to be glossed over a bit. It’s like there was some super serious shit happening but “Wheee!”

Makes me wonder if
Spoiler
Tony used Extremis on himself after everything was said and done.

I’m thinking that too. I mean, I thought that there was no way to get that shrapnel out without him dying right quick.

[details=Spoiler]They showed how they got the shrapnel out. He probably had an elite team of surgeons (Dr. Strange?) and a magnet that looked to be powered by his arc reactor. Every piece of shrapnel was constantly being pulled upwards. All they had to do is insure that they safely leave his body. He didn’t need Extremis for that. Just because Tony used it in the comics to get an edge doesn’t mean movie Tony has to. Plus how would it look to Pepper if he just uses it on himself. Be a total reversal of all the things he just promised her. If he were to use Extremis on himself they would have hinted at in the movie.
If anything he probably will use what he learns about Extremis in developing his own nano machine tech for his next suit in Avengers 2[/details]
they shouldn’t be shot but in movies like the avengers it would have been nice to see a few clues to the other superheros that reside in NY like the Xmen or Spiderman. Like some of those monsters caught in some webbing against a building. you don’t need to see spiderman in person but just the presence that he was there.
Unfortunately there are a few parallel universes to deal with, titled Fox, Sony, and Marvel. While it would have been sick as hell to see that put to use, i am pretty sure the contract has stipulations regarding appearances.
