Ah, never mind guys. I got it down. Even though my wavedash with Tron is ridiculously slow, this game thankfully gives you a year to OTG.
Unless you’re in a corner or good with teleports Bonne Strike isn’t that good for the sake of pressure. Just like Gustaff Fire, Bandit Boulder is only really serviceable at close range. The rock can hit long range but you shouldn’t be using it as some sort of projectile anyway.
I think the Wesker Gun assist/Tron Jump H. isn’t a true unblockable, although it’s definitely very hard to block because of that high low mixup. That’s most of the reason why I put Wesker in my team instead of Morrigan, so now I have two offensive assists to work with for point Tron
I didnt know the dhc trick with tron leaves you with a unscaled servebot O.o I kill people with dante after dhc’ing with her so easily,

The servbot scales the rest of the combo though. Probably dependent on who you use afterwards but at least with amaterasu I can get better damage sans servbot.
Yeah. Another good mixup is using IAD j.L into the c.L-> s.M hit confirm. Since j.L hits multiple times, they’ll have to guess when to block low. The only problem is that j.H has godlike range lol.
Im gonna go on for a bit here so excuse me; Obviously I need to be answering these questions myself in the Danger Room, but Im at work for the next 13hours, so Im gonna Theory Fight in the SRK forums instead :ninja:
So Tron is definitely equipped with the potential to build significant meter, with the large number of hits she gets during any basic combo that includes a couple jump loops.
But her benefit as a assist is unparalleled and undeniable.
I propose using a team like Tron(Gustav)/Wesker(OTG)/Storm(Whirlwind) maybe Sent(Drones) inplace of Wesk.
with the intention of building quick meter and the start with Tron and switching her with Storm as soon as I have >3bars.
The trick will be to get something going with Tron without jeopardizing her safety, so I can get as much out of the assist as possible.
With that team I really only have Whirlwind to help Tron get her game started. Whirlwind, if you dont know, will push your opp very far and this can be a great mix-up with teleports, but with Tron I would need a more standard Cross-up Assist setup.
So im thinking to myself, how fast does Tron recover from AirDrills… fast enough to land and attack while my opp is still caught up in a Whirlwind, IDK.
The question I pose is: what assist do you use to help Tron lock her opp down and get combos started; I have a decent understanding of what assist allow her to combo into Hypers; and I realize my team doesnt have them, unless I switch Wesker with Sent(drones).
I assume is key is to cover the ground with a projectile and box jump in with j:h:
Well I think thats enough jabbering for now, I think this post was more for my benefit, just typing this stuff out is help me contemplate a strat with a Tron team.
But Im still curious to see what anyone might have to say.
I’m looking for an intermediate Tron BnB that doesn’t require an assist and that can preferably be started at midscreen. Any recommendations? How much damage should I be doing from a BnB with no assist?
Here is an idea i found and have been playing around with thank the dhc glitch for this AFTER you Hit someone with tron bonnes lunchtime rush dhc to someone that u could normally dhc glitch with (dante wolverine etc) the servbots will continue to hit and u will be free to combo and hyper at ur pleasure, damage may not reset but this could defintely lead to some interesting setups, For example lets say you have 5 meters and u do this with dante, you can begin comboing then hyper into dantes guns then dhc back to tron and do another lunchtime rush and then continue the assault and if you have a third person like wolverine and you do lunch time rush after dante’s guns u can then combo with wolverine for free (yes it COULD be a waste of meter but i doubt it tron basically builds too and then when u dhc the other team member gets free combos(also building meter) so i think it can pay for itself this is probably a LOOP with the right charecters
Edit: also naming this the thct or tron hyper combo trick
Unfortunately I’m gonna have to mega-burst your bubble; DHC-ing out of lunchtime resets absolutely nothing, which means hitstun decay will prevent any lengthy combos after all the servbots hit. DHC-ing into one of the glitchable hypers is a nice idea, but usually when you’re in that state, (i.e. Devil trigger, Berserker Charge, Veil of Mist), attacks build no meter. The attacks would also do next to zero damage thanks to the heavy scaling off of lunchtime. The lunch rush is also faster than you think - you could maybe squeeze in one LMH combo.
I’m thinking a neutral-state hyper off of lunchtime might be useful for resets.
If you’re starting and 3 meters and really want to kill that character, a Tron combo (builds 2 meters) -> Lunch Rush -> neutral state hyper -> lvl3 hyper is not actually that bad of an idea. Since lvl3 hypers don’t scale, you can easily kill the majority of the cast this way.
Thank you captain obvious, i kno it doesnt im just saying you can combo while the servebots are rushing, its still damage unscaled or not
Rude. The main point is that hitstun scaling doesn’t reset, and you’ll only be able to tack on very few, heavily scaled hits to the combo (we’re talking below 50K). In short, not worth it - a normal DHC would end up doing more damage. And it wouldn’t pay for itself for the same reasons.
If you can setup a good mixup situation, it would be worth the meter, though - Wolverine or Zero would be the most threatening, probably. Dante, maybe not so much.
sorry to be rude but i pointed that out in my post that it doesnt reset but its just a possibility to do some extra damage and do things like tag out charecters and build some meter and other neat things. This is NOT by any means meant to be a REPLACEMENT dhc but it does offer some thought on some nice things you could do
You could do j.H (or Drill), s.L, s.M, f.M, j.M, j.M, j.H (land), s.M, f.M, j.M, j.M, j.S (ground bounce), l.Beacon, super of choice. Just make sure you cancel the s.M’s quickly so you don’t add too many hits, especially if you start the combo with a drill.
Generally the super of choice will be King Servbot, since it allows for more setups afterward. If you hit it midscreen, and have another bar, you can H.drill xx lunchtime.
Optimizations for this combo: omit the s.L after the starter, replace the second j.M in the second loop with j.H
So it’d go [starter] (j.:h:, or drill, or air drill), , f.
,(jump cancel) j.
, j.
, j.:h:, (land),
, f.
(jump cancel), j.
, j.:h:, j.:s:, (beacon bomb (optional)), King Servbot
Lately I’ve been opting to launch into air combo instead of hyper if I can’t kill them. The hitstun scaling after the combo causes the OTG + rock throw to let them air tech instead of knockdown. Most people don’t expect it, so I can usually get an airthrow reset afterwards.
Yes, good optimizations. The s.L is so ingrained in my muscle memory now that I sometimes forget I can omit it =)
The optional beacon bomb gives you a couple other options after the combo. You mentioned the air combo into reset, or you could just drill at that point and they’d flip out at the end, or you could wait a second for them to fall out of the beacon and go for a grab or a crossup or something. Keep’em guessing!
whats up guys.
i just wanted to drop this little bit of anti phoenix technology i came up with while playing against a usual mashing scrub. it requires 4 bars but it’s worth the cause. pretty much when phoenix is going on her A mashing brigade and your blocking with one of your characters you alpha counter in tronbonne and cancel gustav fire to lvl 3 super. if the phoenix is deep enough it works every time. it’ll grab her super and you don’t even have to blow X factor. usually the best time to do it is when you block her after she teleports.
In the interest of having the UMvC3 character threads be as awesome as possible, I am posting here to offer up my current Ultimate Dormammu Thread as a base skeleton to anyone who intends to manage a character thread, or something similar, in Ultimate. It is currently stripped of information, and will remain so until about a week before release. I am not attempting to toot my own horn, but rather offer to others what took me quite a bit of work to do, so that those who would rather not spend the time on such things do not have to.
I have received a lot of compliments to-date about the structure, and a few people have requested permission to use its structure for UMvC3, so I thought I would go around and make the offer to others who might not be aware that someone out there has already done the grunt work for them (haha). Because I am posting this in all the character forums, and this is time consuming on its own, I have not taken the time to check for how developed the thread I am posting on current is. Thus, I ask that no one be offended at my suggestion if your character forum is well constituted already - I mean no intrusion upon your methodologies!
Here is a link to the thread blueprint:
You can get an example of what it looks like when filled out here:
You are of course entirely welcome to change whatever you like if you want to incorporate this structure into your own thread. I have all of my posts saved as Word documents on my computer. If you would like these documents instead of having to copy/paste from the main threads, please feel free to PM me your email address, along with the character thread they will be used for, and I will gladly send them.
Highest Regards to All,
Karst
cant she just counter with phoenix inferno i believe it has enough frames to allow that
I’d really like to get hands-on play with Tron in UMvC3 soon. I’d like to try her out even though it seems like she’s through a lot of changes.
I do not want to drop her just yet since she was my favorite character in Vanilla, but at the same time, because of all of her changes, I’d find that it’ll be hard to either get use to her or that she just sucks on point. We will have to see.
