Well, you’re right that we won’t know specific frame data until the patch is released, but unlike frame-heavy games like Tekken, where even a single frame affects what kind of punisher you need to use, it’s sufficient at this point to know whether a move is getting worse or better. But, from what I see when I read through this list is mostly damage, hitbox, and glitch changes.
For instance, I stopped playing Asta as a main, but I still play him, and it says they increased his damage on his super and fixed a glitch that made some characters go under it when they shouldn’t. That’s all I need to know to know that move just got beefed. But, to your point, it also mentions that 4B got a range beef, but is that vertical only or is it going to track some more, or both? Although we won’t know for sure until the patch, the move is still getting better.
True, but some things you can’t do anything about, for instance 44A brave edge. Mid, tracks, and sets up free 50/50 on block. You can’t eat it, otherwise is leads to combos. That move it the goddamn dumbest. Almost as dumb as Pyrrha’s 66B BE.
Can’t you GI the orb? I’ve seen vids of people countering her a lot for using her BE’s. Though I’m sure there are ways around it.
Don’t know much about the game, but the patch notes were a pain to read. I assume a lot of the “harder to sidestep” comments are bigger hitboxes, but they could be better tracking too? Guess people will find out…
Yes. You can also just-guard it. (Oddly, I’ve never been able to JG the very first hit of the string, so I’m not sure if you can on that hit.)
But, when it comes to JG and GI, remember that that applies to every move. Because it’s essentially a 5-hit string, you have to be really good at JGing for that to be reliable, and GI uses meter, which sucks if you’re the defender since it’s another way that the Viola player can control your movement. If you tally all the good things about the move, you’ll see how stupid it is: Tracks, true mid (all but the 2nd hit are essentially mid, A moves), causes combo on every hit, 5-hit string (which is important for a variety of reasons), long-range (b/c of the last 3 hits), does guard-break, fast, and, on block, gives free 50/50 mix-up. That’s a lot of good attributes.
I see. Yeah it still seems pretty abusable. Her and ZWEI were only interesting to me because their new “delayed cover fire” sort of element. Its totally hard keeping up with all the character-specific counters for me in this game though.
WTF did I just watch? What an awesome game… lolololololol
That’s one of the reasons that Viola, at least, is good is because her offense works a lot like a Marvel offense: Control the screen and use your assist to cover your advance.
Oh, so, I should have mentioned this before, but if you are interested in learning KoFXIII and want to learn the basic flow of KoF, 98 is a great place to start. Obviously it’s a different game in a lot of ways, but 98 will definitely teach you strong fundamentals to apply for KoF. If you anyone’s interested feel free to jump on the IRC chat and a few of us would be happy to play some rounds of that over GGPO.
Also sidenote, Armored Core V is pretty cool, hit me up if you pick it up on PS3 and we can go shoot some mechs.
i guess you don’t care enough
btw sad that RE:ORC wasn’t well recieve i now have my doubts that RE6 might not be good… but who knows only time will tell.
RE5 should have given all the doubts you needed. Besides when Capcom said “don’t you hate it when you don’t have enough ammo for that big gun? Well not anymore!”
At least RE5 had one good thing…Chris punching a GODDAMNED BOULDER into submission! Seriously though, they need to make another Survival Horror game, not Action Horror like the last few RE games have been.
Side note/edit: I got to see how my knuckles work first hand last night thanks to an accident at work…that was interesting.
