Would people be up for a tournament on Saturday, August 26th? (Or is it Blake’s birthday or something?) I think that’d be the only day this month that isn’t taken so far by other area tournaments…that I know of, anyway. I’m sure someone will tell me otherwise.

Scratch that me-running-a-tourney-in-CR idea for the end of this month. Work has us on stupid amounts of overtime, including Saturdays.

When and Where?
This tournament will take place on September 7, 2012, with registration starting at 5:30 PM on site. Matches will start around 6:30 PM.
All games will be played at The Game Room in downtown Lincoln, located at 1709 O street, Lincoln, NE 68508.
Registration and Prizes
All registration will take place on site, beginning at 5:30 PM. Entry to each tournament is $10. Of each entry, $7 will go into the prize pool, and the remainder will go into HLeSports towards building the local and regional fighting game community and hosting future events.
Games this Month will be SSFIV:AE 2012, UMVC3, KoFXIII, and SCV.
I think the Capcom games are cool and all, but I dont think I’ll be attending monthlies again till we get some other games in there.
If SSF4AE2012 was more popular, I’d get down on it. Someone holler if people start caring.

So what do you guys think of P4A so far? I really like Akihiko but its so hard coming from a SF background and trying to play an ARCSYS game lol.
I refuse to touch a game that isn’t P4A if that says anything.

Didn’t like the game at first, I foresee frustration with it and it has design choices that I don’t like. Still, its only growing on me at this point. I intend for it to be my main game and I enjoy improving at it. It takes a skillset that I enjoy compared to other games where I feel like consistency hinders on factors I don’t. Its also accessible and has room for creativity. While at first I found the characters linear, the more I watch and see how people break the game down the more I see how different they can all be played.
For now its too early for me. Unlike a lot of other anime games its getting attention and may very well have a scene that puts the work in. So we get to see this game get fletched out for a bit. Its fun to play but I’m constantly debating what level of scumbaggery I should apply. We’ll see how the game fares when all the dumb shit gets weeded out from the legit play. Even for Japan there’s still room for that. There’s always those people on Nico who wait til the console version comes out to get into the obscure nitty gritty of the game.
