Hulk’s Gamma Charge assists (both the ground and AA versions) have super armor–meaning that they can absorb 1 hit and still continue. If you hit him twice or more (like with some projectile that hits 3 times) then you will stop the attack.
Hulk’s Gamma Wave assist (the rock toss) doesn’t have any super armor AFAIK.
Thor’s assists have never been reported to have super armor, however someone on the Thor forum mentioned that his Mighty Strike (torpedo move that can be done in three directions) can pass through projectiles. Therefore his Mighty Strike assist may have that property.
Thor is still a great character, and his Mighty Smash assist is useful for combos/baiting, it just isn’t invincible from frame one. So far, only Haggar’s Lariat seems to have that privilege.
In the MVC3 guide, it says Ryu has NO INVINCIBILITY whatsoever on his shoryuken assist. Have you tested to make sure that he is only vulnerable during his entrance, and not also as he starts the move?
Slightly off topic but I find it amusing to get stuffed out of hypers before the game even slow down to show you any special animations. I start wondering if I even did the hyper right until I realize I have a level missing.
Perhaps once she is on the screen she may have decent priority, more so when she is in Dark Phoenix mode. But I have seen her get stuffed from time to time from random stuff. As for Akuma’s AAA in MvC2, it was never invincible.
it’s possible. i think it might be the reason behind the seemingly inconsistent decisions concerning non-AAA assists. for example, Zero can keep Sougenmu as an assist. Arthur can keep Gold Armor as an assist. OTOH, IIRC, Doramammu Liberation charge gets consumed when used as an assist and MODOK’s LoU can’t be used at all as an assist.
I think that’s more of a balance issue. Morrigan also loses Astral Vision during assist. Arthur is balanced TO have Gold Armor on his assists, as is Zero. Dormammu’s full-power liberations are as strong as some hypers in the game, so having it as an assist would without a doubt make him the best assist in the game right now. If they toned his liberations down, then they wouldn’t be worth using, because Dark Hole and Purification are already so good. LoU are probably more of a practicality issue - do you want to use a LoU or not? How do you decide? It would be irritating if LoU were always consumed when you were not interested in using them. Plus, LoU-buffed Shield Barrier is too high to jump over - can you imagine someone like Sentinel hiding behind one of those?
@ mr_punk: I believe for that reason as well, considering some of the assists can be “powered up” but not only that. In MvC2 some assists were simply too good and that alienated a lot of characters for just BEING assists, so they were never picked at all. This time around I think they gave the liability of everyone assist being easily stuffed with very few invincible assists. The only one that stands out is Haggar’s assist but even then he pays some life up front.
@ Karsticles: It will require some testing. Ammy also has a counter assist as well. It depends on how fast they activate it once their feet touches the ground. “In theory” those would be the best “GTFO” assists next to pure invincible assists aka Lariat… if it works instantly. In MvC2, invincible assists were the only legit way of getting someone off you when they are rushing you down nasty. You could sometimes get lucky and you would smack the assist as he comes inside, combo’ing both characters to death.
That’s pretty stupid, if they’re going to be invincible during the taunt they should just remove it altogether so I don’t have to hear Magneto tell me farewell 1,000,000 times over the course of my life.
