Digital Master: Well I was all geared up this year to shoot the sequel, but half way thru I stopped. I have been shooting/editing the last few weeks non stop and I just kinda wanted to take a vacation. Also all the chips didn’t line up like they are supposed to. I feel like I can’t do what I did in 2004 anymore. Now the event is sooo much bigger!
My original purpose for creating Inside EVO 2k4 was because I felt like our community had soo much potential that wasn’t being shown to the masses. I felt like even though Bang the Machine was a good effort, it lacked the true spirit of evo (or the B series). It was made almost like from an outsider’s perspective. I mean Apoc jumping around doing backflips in his front yard?? really?.. I wanted to show what really happens not just at the actual event but also behind the scenes. I feel like I accomplished that with Inside EVO 2k4.
Fast forward to EVO 2k9… the biggest turnout ever! Sooo many people filming, taking pics… I mean it’s not the same like it was 5 years ago. There used to be a time when we had to wait like 6 months just to see a dvd, and it didn’t have the juicy stuff like mm and other shinanigans…
…now there’s youtube. The cole dance off is up, the finals are up, random interviews are up… that’s a good look for our community! We’ve grown a lot in the last 5 years.
Now I see others are taking the initiative I took then and making it work for their own regions…
…and even that other doc that’s in the works “I Got Next” looks pretty cool. Oh and I have to say great job to Watson & Mike Rawse on the Tomo mini doc at evo, that was awesome!!
Yes “BTM” was the first doc. to showcase our top tier fighters, but I feel like it was me that pioneered the all around SRK community behind the scenes footage.
So to answer the question, will I be doing another doc in the future?
I really want to shoot a sequel to “Inside EVO 2k4”, but it would have to be on a bigger scale all around. I would love to have SRK’s support, create a feature film and run it thru the indie film festivals… we’ll see…

The documentary was pretty sweet. I really wanna go next year. Thing is I live in Indiana and I know I’m not gonna win lol. Do they hold tournaments for SF Alpha 2 or 3 anymore ? Plus the soundtrack you used was dope. Dilla and METAL FINGAZ!!! I have shazam on my phone and it said one of the tracks was “Lemon Grass” and “vervain” and that cant be right. Both songs sound completely different then what is on the video during the credits. So what are the songs? If I’m lucky enough to save enough money I might go next year for 2011 but who knows. I’m gonna spend all year practicing
