I was just wondering if there is any info on the BYOC section of EVO?

1.If your a spectator, can you play at the BYOC?
2. How when will the BYOC start at the tournament and how long will it last? Some events shut it down before finals to make people go watch etc.
3. Should people also bring their own TV’s/Monitors for their setups?
4. Will it basically just be open tables with TV’s and chairs?

Any information would be appreciated, thanks.

  2. It should be running all day Friday and Saturday. Closed Sunday for Finals.
  3. No, we’ll provide the TVs. You provide everything else.

oh wow, good to know. I don’t remember it being like that when I went in 2k4.

IN 2004 it was in a seperate room, every year since then its been in the main hall, and thats where we broadcast finals. The BYOC area is also closed during special events.

Ahh. Are pools/semis done in a separate room, and if so what happens with that area on Sun? I realize it’d prolly be a big hassle switching BYOC to another area, just curious.

The BYOC is packed up saturday night… on that note:

  1. Help is always appreciated with packing on sat night!
  2. Packing up the BYOC does not mean that we sit right outside the spectator area and setup machines anyway, respect the players that are playing in the finals, and if you are not interested, do something elsewhere.

Just FYI, for those who don’t know, those of us who helped out last year got free Evo 07 DVDs + a mini continental breakfast on Sunday morning. I wouldn’t necessarily EXPECT any perks, but who knows?

Typically games setup for casual play are run setup arcade style / winner stays. But people will be running other types of events and tournaments in that area as well. It’s really up to the person setting up the machine.
