Infinite Crisis or Civil War, what was the best of the bad crossovers?

Okay I’ll keep this as brief as possible.

I can’t go into a public release vs. word of mouth debate for obvious reasons since my inside information into comic books boils down to Udoneko writing me on AIM one time, so I have to default on what I read and hear since I can’t vouch for anything else.

Regardless, what I’m saying is when you have a huge event there has to be ramifications and not just have something swept under the rug. Otherwise you just got people to buy a bunch of comics for nothing. The public really has no reason whatsoever to read House of M other than to know that that crazy lady Scarlet Witch said “No More Mutants” and made it possible and that’s it. That’s just… bad to me. Whether this was poor writing or more Civil War comics are a happy accident at the end of the day you are just getting more of your money’s worth for buying a Civil War comic than you are for getting a House of M comic that will just sit there and collect dust not really being referenced again.

A lot of what we talk about when we discuss crossovers is the aftermath, that’s why the Initiative, WWH, 52 and OYL come up. They are major factors on how you view crossovers in the grand scheme of things. For House of M, we have a few issues of Son of M (which were a lot better than House of M), lots of cricket noises and that’s about it…

Well, for me, I like big events, because it’s like a family reunion.

it’s the only time of year they all get together and kick some ass.

sure, some of 'em get killed off, but it’s still nice to see everybody.

The last thing I wanted to do is get into a dick measuring contest about who knows who in comics. :looney: I only mentioned it because that’s how I know. I don’t expect anyone to say “Well by Joe he’s gotta be right”. It’s the internet. But whatever, I think we can all agree that it was a bit of a mess regardless.

Moving on: I can’t argue with you about HoM not being followed up on, it wasn’t. All those things that happened with Spidey should be addressed, but they’re not. For whatever reasons. It’s the same way with JMS’ run and his new powers. I’ve yet to see them anywhere else, let alone mentioned.
I can bet you, though, that that gets retconned out as soon as JMS is off the book.

Which was something else I found really annoying about Civil War. If you wanted to find out more information about a specific scene (Spidey vs Ironman) you got loads of contradicting information.
It’s like none of the other writers wanted to talk to each other about what was going on. Did no one get the memos?
For a new reader, that’s gotta be irritating. :annoy:

Spidey’s Stingers have come out in Sensational. But him being able to see in the dark, not really. And prior to that when he got his organic webbing the first time, his ability to communicate with small spiders and insects has never been used again either.
