Indianapolis, IN: We do play games, I promise

oh no… it definitely won’t get done that quick… sorry if i misled you but i’ll try to get it out here

we now have a concrete date for MvC3… and it’s right around the time i was aiming for the new NTC… think we should go for it gang??.. it would take little to no effort to get a big release tournament up and running… i’m thinking a team tournament for SSF4, ST, MvC2, and MvC3 with MvC3 being the big show of course and if you enter 4 your team has to enter ST and vice versa for both marvels… make it like a newskool~oldskool gauntlet … i’m talking raffles, prizes, a stream, the whole shebang… catchin what i’m spillin?

Brent… if there’s an ST team tourney in Indianapolis you and I have to be a team right?

Let’s do work, son.

I’ll try to catch up with you here soon so we can start hashing this out.

Since ST/HDR is about the only game I play anymore (until 3S Online at least), I would love to see it have some presence at this tourney and I’ll definitely try to make it up for it. I could even bring my PS3 or my 360.

I don’t know a whole lot about Hyper SF2, but if both people only picked ST versions of their characters would that be an acceptable replacement for ST? Or how about someone bringing a PC and running emulated ST?

No. This would be the worst possible way to do it, honestly.

Perhaps. Run it at speed 1 since emulation runs the game too quickly. I personally don’t find too much fault with it that way but then you have to be sure that you can get good sticks to work with minimal input lag. I don’t know if I’m behind the times on that stuff but I had to download a special program just to get my Xbox TE stick to work with any decency.

Greg - you pretty much gotta plan to do something now. that’s 4 people that are asking for ST, 2 of them basically wanting to come only for that game. i know you’ll think of something. :wgrin:

Why, exactly? Not that I’m doubting it, I’m actually just curious since I never really played Hyper SF2 at all. Didn’t Vega have some fucked up inputs or something in that version?

As far as the sticks on the PC, I use a PS2 HRAP2 SA (actually has a Seimitsu stick in it now but whatever) with a InPin converter that is lag free or pretty close to it. That’s my GGPO stick. And PS3 Hori sticks are basically plug and play from what I’ve heard.

Anyway, if I can help bring ST or HDR to the tourney, let me know how and I’ll do what I can.

Yeah his wall dive input is all goofed up. O. Sagat isn’t O. Sagat. The speed on the game is way too slow. I’d have to find a list to try to remember the rest of the differences but there were more if I recall. I mean each non-arcade version of ST has it’s differences from the real thing but in my mind trying to play it through AE would be the worst way.

I got to thinking, I’m sure Ghetto Dave would also play ST with us. That makes 5 people. That is enough to at least warrant a casuals setup for the game. If we can get even 3 more folks we could have 8 person casuals or throw a quickie $5 tourney for it.

@Indy: I’m sorry I couldn’t make it.

BlazBlue is gdlk. I got a copy of Calamity Trigger for freeeeee, so I’m learning the ropes at the moment. I’ve finally strung together my first real combo (too bad it involves ice cars…lol) but the game is starting to make more sense. (Marvel player here.)

I’m just not used to people air teching out of my combos if I’m a few frames off…eh…

Litchi and Carl are that deal. If they fix Rachel, I’ll pick her back up. Arakune’s curse rape looks hilariously gooood. Lambda steam rolls him though.

Jin is a jerk. Ragna’s sooo angry. Tsubaki’s going blind, so I don’t know if it’ll be worth learning her.

Valkenhayn and Platinum the Trinity are too buggy for Live…Makoto costs 8 bux…

and I need an arcade stick. Yay for random nonsense.

Kyle, next time you go to one of Indy’s get togethers, I need to go to BlazBlue school. In the meantime, I’m
going to study up.

Yeah I agree that if you’re going to do ST the best way is arcade ST but that’s not really easy… I know you’re not a fan but I think Classic Mode HDR is pretty damn close… since its basically the dreamcast version…

and OMG, ST Cammy is SOOO much worse than Remix Cammy… I was playing N. Cammy the other day on GGPO and it just made me cry… I have so much more respect for James Chen…

NTC needs to start back up. Get it done! I’d be happy to lend as much assistance as I can. If you guys have an announcement to make at anytime in the future, hit me up and we can do a podcast. That is, if you’d be interested : )

I’m not sure there will be another Naptown Clash. I would definitely like to see some more Indianapolis tourneys come up though.

Man, looks amazing…

As a Talbain fan, I have to rep this guy to the fullest. When is he going to be available over Live!? Grrrr…

alright… I hope everyone is having a nice wholesome thanksgiving day by the time they read this i have some announcements…

firstly I talked to the new event manager at Tilt and we get to use the 4D room for T3 on the 7th… yknow? the old NTC room… if you don’t know where it is simply ask the Tilt staff to show you the the T3 tournament (yeah we got it like that now) or gimme a call (317-281-3045)

secondly keep your calenders marked for Febuary 19th (Saturday of course) cause we are a go for the next Naptown Clash… basically i’m gonna help the tilt crew run the next couple tournaments up til MvC3’s release, which they will then have a midnite release tourney for that Monday, then we get the space and equipment to run a nice allday tourney that weekend

We’re getting full support from the Tilt folks, and assistance from the Circle Centre Gamestop, they’ll be providing space, some, setups, and some games, we’ll basically have the run of the place… and i have a few ideas for some other sponsors to get us some raffle prizes and whatnot but i still gotta iron that part out

this is the itinerary i’ve established as far as tournaments go: SSF4 singles, Marvel3 singles, ST singles, and a MvC2 low tier tournament… sort of a new school balanced with oldskool program… and the only ideas for side tournies i’m taking into consideration right now is a mystery game tournament, which patrick wants to run for a sort of charity event, and I’d like a 3S tourney if you’d be so kind as to run it Mario (I’d supply a full setup for it and enter myself) and if anyone gets ballsy enough to run a team or doubles event for either SSF4 or MvC3 then i’ll help arrange the time and space for that but i wouldn’t be able to run it myself

don’t let this vague disposition fool you, this event and it’s date are rock solid already, in the meantime i need everyone from Indy lending their support anything from bracket rangling, to stream and task support, and of course setups (which will of course get you free entry, we’ll definitely need MvC2 setups and support Knyght) so everybody lemme know what you can provide to help the show run smoothly… after this post i’m gonna send a flare up to the Midwest superpowers for their help, then tomorrow i gotta go back down to tilt to spit the general plan to them, and once i’ve got everything ironed out i’ll put the pre-thread up in the tourney section prolly saturday/sunday

we’re taking back to the streets you guys, set the alarm, DEFCON 5! EDIT: forgot to say anyone bringing a setup to T3 on the 7th gimme a call with the number above just so i know whats up

I’m all over this like melted butter on mashed taters.

MvC3 tournament? Soon after launch? :wow: Me likey!!!

Low tier MvC2? It’ll be fun until VDO shows up. Shoutout to Michigan for being gdlk at low tier.

Then there are those mysterious Anakaris players from Chi…they are some bullies… I hope they didn’t see this… :shake:

Any BB:CS man? I’m dying to see how this game is really played. Effenhoog can come out and beast on everyone with Valk and Lambda…yeah, I don’t know who you play.

Okay, time for me to obtain #1 in indiana. =)

I think that since the names of tournaments are often associated with the people that organize it, the name “Naptown Clash” itself should not be used unless the tournament is being run by the same individuals that ran it in the past or with their blessing. I don’t think it’s a big deal, just respectful. Either way I’m not really involved, but I felt that it was perhaps worth mentioning.

I know probably no one will play it (or know anything about the source material) but I’m pretty interested in the Umineko no Nako Koro Ni fighting game that was just on the front page a few days ago, if only because it’s going to have the demon butler Ronove as a playable character. It’s kind of a strange choice for a fighting game, but after playing the Azumanga Daioh doujin game nothing surprises me anymore.

Actually you go them right.
I might change my mind when the game is updated or Platinum the Trinity is released.

I haven’t seen any good videos of her/it yet. I’m still waiting on them to fix my Rachel…jerks…

Still no Valkenhayn for Live…and the release date is indeterminate…blah.
PSN will prolly get Platinum and the CS:II update first…boooo.

Supposedly they fixed the XBL issue, which is the reason why the European version was delayed. I’m not sure why the Valkenhayn DLC still isn’t up yet.

Indiana tournament? I am so in, along with 2 of my friends. I have never been to a tourney and it seems like there aren’t many around here, so I’m pumped.

You should join the Umineko FG defense force with us, Another!Kyle.
