KOF music is pretty classy

REMINDER: MANDATORY $3 MINIMUM STARTS TOMORROW AT ARSENAL

That means you either buy $3 worth of food or you just pay them $3, but you must pay. No exceptions.

Failure to comply may result in broken thumbs and/or you may get to experience the view from the center of a wagon wheel

aw i missed KOFXIII?.. damn!.. i’ve said it a million times i love KOF way more than any other fighter… i bet im the Renegade… i mean the best

Get on that KOF G, this game owns. Also, teach me how to play.

The “mash til it works” tip seems to have helped. I can do that basic string fairly consistently now. Comboing into super still seems really difficult.

I havent played since KOF99, and I am going to be Team K’, bc I drive a Maxima

Hey can You inform me if there are anymore of these sessions going on…Ive been meaning ti find a gaming scene in my local community

Hey Ive seen you at gamestop a few times…You should introduce me into a gaming community
I would appreciate it

Since UMvC3 came out, I think Fridays have about 15 people there or a little more. When you show up be sure to say hi and introduce yourself around. I cant make it on Fridays but I am there almost every Monday, and will be this Monday.

If you’re looking to get involved with the community here, we meet at Arsenal Game Room (http://arsenalgameroom.com/) on Mondays from 5-10 and Fridays from 5-12. Bring your own stick and optionally, a setup with any game’s you’re looking to play. Also, keep in mind that Arsenal runs a small cafe. There’s a $3 minimum purchase, so we encourage people to support the store and get something to eat while there.

edit: beaten, but not as bad as I’m gonna beat you down in KOF at Das Clubb on Monday

Hmm I wonder if KOF13 is gonna last, with no good online, and somewhat boring gameplay (at least to me)
Anyone really into the game? It kinda feels like a slow footsie based Street Fighter game, that adds different ways to move, but not much else. But thats just my oppinion. Anyone else think differently? I’ve been told it’s very un noob friendly, and that mashing will get you killed. (Granted I don’t mash xD) Nah but srsly I don’t, I just do the move, and usually press it once, and the DP’s in the game feel incredibly powerful, it seems like if I see anything even a twitch it will hit. And because normals are so slow I can generally tell when they are trying to bait it.

Zoning feels somewhat bland, nothing too major, but if your character has a Fireball, and a DP it just makes it so much easier to force them to come to you and make a mistake, or by mistake attempt to actually attack you.

Hopefully if I play it some more I won’t feel as bored, if anyone has some oppinions of the game let me know. I just don’t feel that it’s as technical, and unnoob friendly as alot of people are making it out to be.

ggs to Zamza, and Astral by the way.

KOF games always get hype when they’re released and then people lose interest. Personally I know that I’m not putting the same amount of time into it as I put in 3s so I don’t particularly care about the game but thats just me being stubborn.

As far as KOF gameplay goes, you’re playing it wrong if its all slow. KOF is all about the hops and rolls. If they’re using those correctly, DP’ing on reaction becomes incredibly difficult and a lot more risky. The normals are actually the best route to go in KOF but that may have changed. I think one of the main problems in the new KOF games are the stages. They’re HUUUUUUUUUUUGE. And thats probably whats making it seem like a slow game because its supposed to be extremely fast paced.

^hasn’t picked up the game and basing it off of what I know from KOF 98.

Guilty Gear NEC videos, there were 36 entrants: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEFADD1935A7B3879&feature=mh_lolz

Indy pretty much got it, IMO. On top of that, you really have to commit to a DP, and know that it will hit. DPs can lead to some good damage, but drive cancels only work on a hit, so you get nothing like an X-factor cancel or fadc. The strict inputs can get frustrating, but it makes it harder to play defense. You can’t mash out dps.

No offense to anyone here, but I don’t think any of us are playing the game at a particularly high level. I’m really struggling to apply the stuff I can only sort of do in training mode. I don’t think our experience so far is indicative of the way the game is really played.

Commiting to a DP is one thing, but the damage vs reward of doing it seems low, even if someone pulls out a max combo it will most likely be 50% at best unless they just have a ton of meter. So the first two matches I don’t usually have to worry, And it’s not that difficult to react to short hops, and what I mean by it feels like a slower version of SF, is because the normals are just so much slower then the ones on SF, that the rolls, and run, and short hop, super jumps etc don’t mean much.

I’ll give it some more time, me not being able to play it online, and only being able to play it at Arsenal kinda bums me out. Hopefully Atlus fixes the netcode, so I can try to play it against the kof veterens so I will get my ass kicked and have a new perspective of the game. Though to me the game doesn’t seem execution heavy. Though I havent gotten into HD combos. But hitcomfirmable combos generally are just mash LK ten times till it does 3 :stuck_out_tongue: and do a move from there.

Hey guys, myself and a friend are interested in getting into this scene. I was just wondering how often you guys play SSF4AE, MK9, and UMvC3?

We play games every Monday (5pm-10pm) and Friday (5pm-midnight) at arsenal game room.http://www.arsenalgameroom.com/
There is a $3 minimum to play at arsenal, which means they ask that each person spends at least 3 dollars at their cafe. Think of it as a cover price but you also get something to eat or drink

Which games get played depends on who shows up and whether someone brings the necessary equipment. Lately umvc3 has been getting a lot of playtime, and SF4 gets played fairly often but not as much as marvel. I recommend bringing a setup for your game(s) of choice just to be sure that one will be available. We usually have a good amount of equipment but its up to the owners of said equipment to decide what games get played. At the very least, bringing your own controllers and/or sticks is highly recommended

Basically, just show up and introduce yourselves and you’re good to go.

Obvious troll is obvious.

These front page articles are getting ridiculous. All people ever do is complain about a character/team/tactic, call it OP when the game isn’t even 1 month old yet, and start crying at the top of their lungs for a patch. The scary part is CAPCOM is already working on one that will be out by months end. They say it’s just bug fixes…but I don’t trust them.

They nerfed Sentinel a month in with vanilla (I hated Sentinel, but he didn’t deserve that.) Now Wesker and his Ray Bans are the new flavor of the month. Yes, he’s annoying like vanilla Sent was, but we need some time to learn how to shut him down. It isn’t going to happen this quickly.

CAPCOM needs a no balance patch for 6 months to a year rule. Patching is expensive, so why not wait a while and catch all the bugs you can? That, and it will give the competitive community time to see if a tactic/character/team/bug/exploit really is game changing or not?

Lastly, for any new potential players, complaining about something being overpowered or whining about the way you lost will get you removed from my station at the Arsenal. I don’t want to hear that crap. Take your loss like a man. Ask some questions. It’s MARVEL. You will get blown up, no matter how good you are. Just learn from it and move on.

Patching should not be the go to option when we can all stand to learn quite a bit more about this game, and fighting games in general.

I don’t see why one group of players who “find Wesker matches boring” should take precedence over the other group that doesn’t mind him at all. I find competitive matches fun.

Give us BlazBlues ability to change the games version in Options. That way they can all play over Live with their stupid knee jerk nerfs, and the competitive community can play offline with whatever version we want. Sounds fair to me.

I’m still waiting for a valid reason why Wesker is supposedly so amazing aside from “he’s stupid in xfactor.”

Sure, he’s good and extremely easy, but he has a number of weaknesses/counterpicks and there are plenty of characters who can be retarded in xfactor as well. If we’re talking about patching stupid shit, maybe they should look at xfactor before they actually start with the characters themselves.

They say he’s got too many buffs vs his nerfs. The glasses thing is boss, and I hope it stays. What’s funny is a lot of people don’t know that busted glasses yield a higher buff than just removing them with Maximum Wesker.

Full screen bullet to combo was good, but he didn’t need it. It’s his mixups that make him so good. Lowering his damage will do nothing. He will just need an additional reset, or just the one followed by a DHC for the kill.

At the end of the day, they don’t like the fact that their favorite character has to do 100+ hits to get the same amount of damage Wesker gets with 9. If it were their favorite, they wouldn’t be arguing so hard.

In light of how deadly everyone is now, I feel some of those nerfs just weren’t justified. Lariat needs it’s invincibility back, so does Gustaff Fire. That stupid nerf to her air H crippled her. She already had issues on point. If she hit you, you deserved that 10 minute long combo that followed. Wolvie is still the best at what he does. He just has to be more careful about it.
