In regards to the netcode

I retract my previous statement about the netcode being slightly better than Garou and KOF98 - The netcode is actually worse than Garou and KOF98.

i can’t really think of any fighting game that had a perfect netcode except for maybe blazblue all the others had they’re fair share of lag you had to deal with it
this should be no different and seeing as gamestop just dropped this on us
it’s going to be awhile until we see a patch(maybe Wednesday Or Thursday)

Sure, Fatal!

Um, well, first of all, the online set up is a bit… wonky. You search for a game, and then it gives you a list of the games you can select. So you select one of the games, and then it gives you a list of the players that are in that room, and their connection speed; it does not tell you what country they’re playing from, or any sort of specifics. Once you’re ready to join the actual room, you select Ready, or Enter, or something like that, and it takes you into the actual game room. You can be a spectator for the other players fighting until it’s your turn, and then you ready in like every other online fighting game. It isn’t the most user-friendly way of going about joining a room, but it’s serviceable, and gets the job done.

A good indicator of how bad the lag is going to be is, believe it or not, character selection. That’s right folks, there is input delay in character selection, too.

Street Fighter IV has a relatively decent netcode. So does Virtua Fighter 5. Hell, Soul Calibur IV’s is at least passable. This is not a passable netcode by any means.

Now, like I mentioned, there were some issues with BlazBlue’s netcode, as well, so hopefully, SNK gets on the ball and patches this quickly.

Damn, very disappointing if true :frowning: but not all that surprising, most fighters seem to have terrible netcode these days, BB possibly being the only exception (havnt tried it but i heard they used ggpo or something similar). Oh well, still gonna buy it.

For anybody whos interested theres a thread here on the ignition usa forums that is about supporting better or GGPO style netcode for future SNK titles, it obviously hasn’t worked but keep the support up and maybe a miracle will happen for their future titles/iterations

Can we get anyone other than sneak to confirm this?

angry lobster said it was bad too

Yeah I just got the game, I don’t think there’s input delay like Kaillera, but the whole game itself slows down when you have a bad connection like Street Fighter IV.
I got hit with a critical counter and huge slow down happened like to a crawl 'til it was over.

Well I don’t really know what’s going on it was only one match, but I can tell you, it might be possible to get pretty far in this game mashing Vulcan Punch and rolling with Clark online, lol.

Good to hear that there are lobbies.

Let’s hope for a patch sometime soon.

Out of curiosity, what system are you playing on?

just got home with the game. I’ll test it out in a bit. My connection is 20 down and 2 up. Nice surprise that the game supports 1080p.

Total bandwidth doesn’t mean anything. The actual amount of data being passed back and forth would only require $15/mo DSL :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s the total distance you’re traveling, and the game’s programming itself.

Fucking SNK…

I just ordered my CODEFREE US Version of it from Acme…
I caaaaant wait!!

shit@ netcode… but i have enough offline competition

So it’s just like KOF98UM then… I don’t play online because every match already lags at the character select screen.

Man, SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! The lag in this game is beyond ATROCIOUS!!! Shit, there’s LAG when you aren’t even playing online!!!

Blazblue netcode (though I don’t like the game) is light years ahead of this crap. And SFIV is tops when it comes to online play. When i’m playing SFIV, there’s constant action. Either i’m playing in arcade mode or someone is challenging me.

OMG, this is horrible. Inputs take a second to register it seems. Do not get this game if you don’t have a healthy offline comp scene. SNK turds…

What? Is it just the normal KOF slowdown during some combos?

Game seems pretty undercooked(not gameplay). Even all the menus and loading screens look pretty placeholder to me.

They didn’t get it right with Garou, they didn’t get it right with KOF98, why the fuck would they get it right with KOF12. SNK just doesn’t give a damn about online and the rest of the community outside of Japan. While street fighter 4’s netcode is also shitty, so many people own the game (almost 700,000 copies sold on both ps3 and 360 each) that your chance of finding a match with decent quality is significantly increased. This game will not sell even close to that and I think we all know that, so unless they patch, it can only get worse not better. I’ve washed my hands of SNK after this, I’m going to stick it through with Arcsys and BB since they actually care about what the players and the community think, not to mention they have the insight to give importance to things SNK considers trivial such as netcode.

What I meant was when the game is loading up, or various parts before the fight starts the screen slows down (an example of poor programming I guess). And like someone mentioned earlier, when online, there’s lag at the character selection screen… :lame:

even though i bought it anyway i’m still holding out major hope for a patch
