Actually not many characters have true blockstring against 3f DP when linking to mid or strong attacks because of the invi frame of DP. However, you can bait DP if you think your oponent will reverse DP
idk where else to put this but I need to say it somewhere…holy shit do I love me some Oni. I doubt I can have another main again for a very long time …this is like SF2 all over again when I was 7 and was physically incapable of choosing anyone but Fei. I feel like I’m getting a divorce after a decade and a half fighting game marriage or something
lol I had a feeling you were grinding out those points…
Now I challenge you to try the same thing on XBL/PSN
I have an Xbox and I will be playing there when 2012 drops since it will be delayed on PC I know PC is the worst skill pool by far, haha. It’s what everyone I know plays on though so I normally play there. Also I’ve always been a PC gamer so it’s just my preference.
Where are you from?
St. Louis, Missouri.
Hows the offline scene there?
Apparently pretty good, but as this game wasn’t my primary scene until recently I don’t know them all that well. I’ve gone to a few tourneys and placed pretty well when I’ve attended. Some people seem nice but for instance last Saturday this guy yelled at me / insulted me to the point where he was so hostile that I had to leave… simply because I play online, as far as I can tell…
I was the hub of the Smash Brawl scene in STL for like 3 years and everyone was friendly / helpful. Maybe I’ve just met the wrong people in this scene – some people are definitely nice and cool – but some people are really hostile just because I’m an “online player”. Funniest part is that I don’t even really consider myself an “online player” since I’ve always preferred offline lol, I only play online because it’s convenient since I don’t know anyone that well. Even if I was an “online player” it would be totally inexcusable for someone to act like that… just so rude and hostile for no reason. Stupid superiority complex nonsense or something… I don’t get it.
what does it mean when you’re playing offline and someone says your an “online player”? Am I missing some underlying meaning?
It doesn’t really mean anything, some people are just prejudiced against / have hatred for people who play online… it honestly makes no sense.
The actual stylistic differences are that online players generally have less of a footsie game since that is harder to do in an online environment. Mostly though people who are full of themselves say rude things like that because somehow the idea of people playing online makes them insecure or something… it’s completely stupid and trying to understand it is a waste of time :\
Gotcha. I ran into similar things in my local scene too. I find that most players who play offline strictly, produce higher levels of salt when beaten by a new person on the scene who primarily plays online (for whatever the reason). Even if the new person loses but puts up a good fight, they still lean towards hostility. Not to paint them all with the same brush, but things like this happen in everyone’s scene I think. Bad apples in every bunch.
Yeah, I just don’t get it. “OH YOU PLAY ONLINE SO THE FACT THAT YOU MIGHT EVEN CHALLENGE ME MEANS I WILL HATE YOU”… so childish. When you win you better get ready to walk out of the room or they might go berserk :\
You are right about one that it makes no sense. You don’t actually think people would hate you or ride you cause you play online do you? There aren’t very many people who don’t play online these days man. You don’t think doing shenanigans like bragging about your online BP AE might have a little more to do with people not accepting you?
I’m pretty sure everyone gets at least a little salty when they lose regardless of whether they are offline or not. I’d actually go a little further with that and suggest that people who are playing online get even more salty because they are in the privacy of their own home and feel less inhibited to lose their shit.
Trust me guys, people that play offline are not assholes. The reason why you might be getting some heat is not the reason you think. This is coming from someone who goes to every tournament and causal I can.
The only stigma attached to players that are online is when they brag about high BP.
Just saying
I dunno… I think there’s a huge difference between bragging / acting like you’re hot shit (which I would never do) compared to talking about an achievement that you made on a forum geared towards such things :\ But I guess haters gonna hate.
Also Raiden I’m not unaccustomed to playing offline. I know no one takes the Brawl community seriously but I have traveled all over the midwest, attended majors, nationsals, etc. I attended things as large as the MLG events to weeklies for Brawl for over 3 years ranging from the midwest down to Texas. I’m not an online newbie or anything, I just happen to not play this particular game offline because I’ve only just started to focus on it over the last several months.
I have had people ragequit on me in the middle of ranbat matches before. Salt happens, or maybe its the fact I use Bison, got me lol.
I literally laughed out loud at this. My friend is a Bison main >_< hahaha
Any competent Oni players feel like adding me and helping me grind out the matchup a little? I lost to Chris Hu’s Oni at NEC in the team tournament, and I’m motivated to have a better understanding of this character now. PSN/XBL is Xgrayninja/LikeThisOneTime.
Main reason why I don’t want to join a “scene.” Nobody is going to start yelling at me. Either someone is calling the cops or I’m fuckin’ dude up if he wants to cross that line of respect.
You have options.
- Shoot a fair one. (Knuckle up)
- Sit the fuck back down and play with respect.
- Leave the place, go home and stick a remote up your ass and scream in your room.
And MetalMusicMan…I’m coming for your title. Scoll down some…some more…some more…more…yeah im like rank 400 Oni loooooooooool IM COMIN FOOL!
