I'm at the end of my rope

I suggest trying to use these characters to see what kind of playstyle you like. I’ll try to give you diverse characters that aren’t too technical, I’ll also tell you what position is best for them on a team: Hulk(Point),Haggar(Second),Sentinel(Anchor),Wesker(Point/Second/Anchor),Wolverine(Point),Spencer(Point),Morrigan(Point/Second),Hawkeye(Anchor),Dormmamu(Second),Magneto(Point/Second),Modok(Point/Second),Trish(Point/Second),Strider(Anchor),Phoenix(Anchor),Viewtiful Joe(Point),Chris(Point),Frank(Second),Dante(Second) Doom(Second) Strange(Second). I know it’s alot but I feel this a diverse enough list.

Yeah well I felt I could better, tried training, felt I wasn’t doing anything new or different, looked for videos and tutorials, felt as though none of them helped me (bad commentators and not being directly on the point. Maximillion did help me with my Vergil though) Well i didn’t search the thread and in my anger and impatience at the moment decided to make a thread. Big deal.

Thanks. I’ll give them a try. Trish, Wesker, Strange and Wolverine are appealing to me right now.

Vergil is a very good character and like I said is probably top 3 in the game because of his amazing Hyper: Spiral Swords. Spiral Swords allows Vergil to do amazing amounts of damage and put pressure on the opponent very easily. His Devil Trigger is no joke either, it amplifies his specials and gives him a speed boost and other perks. He has amazing normals with LOTS of range. His best command normal by far is his Helmbreaker(Performed with down+H). That moves goes through anything and is safe to do at any time. It can also be cancelled into his S to punsih people for trying to punish helmbreaker from the ground.(LOL) Vergil is classified as a mix up character but because of his health he is used in the anchor position. In the anchor position if XF is activated when all the characters are dead except Vergil he becomes a monster. His speed gets increased by 125% and his damage by 175%.

I see Captain America as a counter character. Even though I don’t know much about him I think his game is controlling space with his sheild and baiting the opponent to do something stupid. He’s best on point to benefit from assists. Not particularly because he has no bad match ups but because his assists are lack luster and his ability to comeback as an anchor is very low.

I honestly don’t know anything about spider-man sorry. All I’ve heard is that he is a very high execution character and has a hard time landing hit, BUT with my personal experience with this character it’s also very hard to land a hit on him as well if you have his movement down.

I used Spider-Man and it took a little while but I got him down a bit. Still could use improving. Thanks for the help. I’m gonna keep practicing. You’ve all been wonderful!

Alright good luck, check the characters specific forums if you have any questions for the characters.

Alright I’ll check out your videos.

Already on it :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t, just another link spammer.

Spider-Man/Vergil/Akuma could work well enough.

I think your problem is that you are getting overwhelmed with the amount of stupidity in this game. Don’t worry, even Yipes (One of the most prolific MvC2 players) kind of has trouble taking the game seriously because of how insane it can get. What I may recommend you do is to quit seeing your matches as “vying for rank points”, because then you will be too distracted with the possibility of losing to improve. Instead, just set aside some time and play maybe 20 or so matches and, after each one, try and see what decided the winner of the match. Did they hit you with a mix-up that you have never seen before? Take a look at what they can do to mix you up and your options for dealing with each situation. Did they make a comeback? It could easily show an exploitable hole in your gameplan. Pretty much, use dat 20/20 hindsight to learn from every match and see where you went wrong.

Take your time to find what character you like. It’s best for you to find 1-2 characters you are comfortable with, build a team around them and make sure you master them one character at a time rather than trying to trying to master a team at one go. Check out how others are playing this game to and the teams they are using, you can learn a lot from them. Eventhubs has a list of popular teams, that should help you in deciding what team to use:
